  • Patent number: 5884660
Abstract: A valve apparatus comprises two housings which can be alternatively connected to one another and separated from one another and possesses an orifice. Each housing holds a flap which is pivotable about an axis of rotation and has a disc and a pivot. The flap can be swivelled into a closed position in which it closes the orifice of the relevant housing at the flat mouth surface of the orifice. Each axis of rotation passes through the mouth area of the relevant housing at an acute angle. Each pivot is pivotably mounted in a hole of the relevant housing, which hole completely surrounds said pivot in cross-section, and is sealed from the housing. This gives a stable support and good sealing of the pivots and, in combination with the discs adjacent to one another when the housings are connected together, makes it possible to avoid contamination of the environment by the transferred material and contamination of the latter by materials present in the vicinity of the housing.

  • Patent number: 4543906
Abstract: A particle coating apparatus is provided with a housing containing a drum open at both its ends and comprising a perforated cylindrical mantel. The drum is allowed to rotate and pivots at one of its ends with a bearing. An air transmission shoe having an opening arranged at one of the lower quadrants of the drum. The opening is adjustable and extends along the contour of the drum. The opening directs the gas through the tablets. The drum has a taking opening extending along the entire width of the mantel. The opening may be closed by a hinged pneumatic shutter. The bottom of the housing located under the drum has an opening which may be closed. When the tablets contained in the drum are coated, they may come out under the effect of gravity after the release of the taking opening and of the bottom opening of the housing.

  • Patent number: 4476804
Abstract: A process and apparatus for coating particles, particularly particles of medicinal drugs. The apparatus has a rotating drum provided with a perforated cylindrical center section. Particles to be coated are introduced into the interior of the drum and form a layer in a lower quadrant of the cylindrical section during rotation of the drum. A spraying device is located in the interior of the drum for coating the particles with an appropriate mixture or solution. A device is positioned adjacent the portion of the drum containing the particles for introducing gas through the perforations into the layer of particles so as to dry the particles. A device also is provided for removing gas from the drum through the perforations. The device for introducing gas can be separated from the device for removing gas by a central partition, with both devices being carried by a common support. Also, it is possible to introduce gas into a portion of the interior of the drum that is spaced from the layer of particles.

  • Patent number: 4318771
Abstract: A device for the formation of a granulated substance. The device has a container which is open at the bottom and can be closed off by a movable bottom member of solid construction. Additionally, two other bottom members, which have lattices with different mesh widths or openings, can be optionally moved under the container instead of the solid member, which bottom member does not have openings. A stirrer is arranged in the container, which has a top container section that contains a filter connected to a suction fan. In order to form a granulated substance, the container is first closed off by the solid bottom member and a powdery material and a liquid are introduced into the container for mixing with each other by means of a stirrer. Subsequently, the solid bottom member is replaced by one of the lattice bottom members and warm air is drawn into the container. In this way, the humid mixed material is whirled about, dried and granulated.
