Patent number: 9689431Abstract: A seal arrangement (1) of an anti-friction bearing, which seal arrangement (1) is inserted between a first bearing part (2) and a second bearing part (4). The seal arrangement includes a seal (6) which is positioned on the rotationally fixed first bearing part by a support element (15) which is enclosed at least on one side by an elastic seal material (16), and which seal (6) includes at least one sealing lip (25, 26). A thrower ring (7), forming a collection chamber (13), of the seal arrangement is assigned to the second rotatable bearing part. To this end, a cylindrical portion (9) of the thrower ring is snapped in an end-side circumferential groove (11) by a flange (5) of the second rotatable bearing part. A radial leg (12) of the thrower ring extends such that it maintains a sealing gap (14) to the seat. Moreover, the seal of the seal arrangement includes elastic sealing lips which are supported on the second bearing part such that they are offset with respect to the thrower ring.Type: GrantFiled: June 26, 2014Date of Patent: June 27, 2017Assignee: Schaeffler Technologies AG & Co. Patent number: 8628248Abstract: A seal arrangement with a centrifugal ring for a sealing between a rotatable bearing part and a static bearing part. The centrifugal ring has a first end piece, which forms both an outer circumference of the centrifugal ring and a cutoff edge located on a disk-shaped outer face. The seal arrangement reduces the coefficient of friction without having to accept any loss of sealing effect, but in which the seal arrangement nevertheless remains cost-effective to manufacture. For this purpose, the centrifugal ring has a second end piece. The end pieces together form a first collecting channel in the vicinity of the cutoff edge and the end pieces each form an annular seal gap with a static bearing part.Type: GrantFiled: December 20, 2010Date of Patent: January 14, 2014Assignee: Schaeffler Technologies AG & Co. Patent number: 8500338Abstract: A steering knuckle, which is provided for receiving an outer ring of a wheel bearing, and a wheel bearing arrangement with such a steering knuckle. The sealing arrangements of the wheel bearing has a pre-seal, which is designed as a labyrinth seal to provide sealing for an appropriate gap geometry. To this end, the steering knuckle has a collecting channel, which captures liquids and dirt particles and discharges them at the periphery. The hearing seal can be changed by this measure, so that savings are possible with a minimum of sealing action of the conventional sealing arrangement and with greatly reduced friction torque. Overall, the sealing action, which is now achieved by the bearing seal and the pre-seal together, is increased or remains at least at the same level while manufacturing costs are reduced.Type: GrantFiled: July 14, 2009Date of Patent: August 6, 2013Assignee: Schaeffler Technologies AG & Co. Publication number: 20120207417Abstract: A sealing ring for sealing a rolling chamber of a rolling bearing, which has a supporting part that is fixed to a first bearing part and retains an elastic part. The sealing ring seals the roiling chamber by a radial or axial sealing lip on the elastic part. The sealing ring lies between the first bearing part and a second bearing part that is rotatable relative to the first bearing part or lies between the first bearing part and another component fixed to the second bearing part and moveable relative to the first bearing part. A ring of lubricant is applied, formed and retained by an annular groove in a sealing lip and by the second bearing part or by the component. The ring of lubricant can also be shaped so that the ring of lubricant closes a gap between the sealing lip and the second bearing part or the components.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 23, 2010Publication date: August 16, 2012Applicant: SCHAEFFLER TECHNOLOGIES AG & CO. Publication number: 20100158423Abstract: The invention relates to a bearing unit comprising a hub provided with a wheel-sided securing flange, whereon an angular contact anti-friction bearing is arranged. In order to produce the bearing unit and to operate it in an economical manner, and also to prevent, for example, deformation and tensions characteristic of known roller riveting units, the securing flange is connected in a material fit to the flange ring in relation to the end of the hub, which clamps at least the inner ring to the hub. The invention also relates to a method for producing a bearing unit, preferably, a wheel bearing unit for a motor vehicle, comprising a hub which is provided with a wheel-sided securing flange whereon an angular contact anti-friction bearing comprising at least one inner ring and an outer ring, is arranged, by means of a device which exerts a clamping force on the bearing unit.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 29, 2006Publication date: June 24, 2010Applicant: SCHAEFFLER KGInventor: Erwin Hartmann

Patent number: 4979899Abstract: The scaler includes a housing which is an angle piece and includes a grip housing and an instrument housing positioned at an angle to the grip housing. A scraper is inserted in a bearing sleeve mounted in bearings in the instrument housing and can be moved into different angular positions relative to the circumference of the bearing sleeve and can be fixed by rotating a coupling ring. A drive shaft is mounted in the grip housing. The drive shaft at its end face is provided with an eccentrically positioned driving pin and a coaxial bearing pin. An eccentric member is pivotable within an angular range on the bearing pin. This range is determined by the size of a recess formed in the eccentric member. A spring-loaded rocker cooperates with the eccentric member to perform a rapid jerky movement of the scraper relative to the instrument housing when the eccentric surface formed in the eccentric member faces the rocker.Type: GrantFiled: May 20, 1988Date of Patent: December 25, 1990Assignees: Ludwig Romhild, Peter ReinhardInventors: Ludwig Romhild, Erwin Hartmann

Patent number: 4854080Abstract: An apparatus for sharpening cutters of periodontal instruments comprises a base supported on a parallelogram formed by two carriers in which is mounted in rotary manner a grinding wheel. At the lower ends the carriers are mounted in a support plate, which is mounted by a pivot pin on a support arm of a swivel head. Below the carriers is displaceably mounted a link, which is coupled to the lower pivot pin of one of the carriers. During the rotary movement of the swivel head, the link is moved along a template, through which it is possible to adjust the angular position of the grinding wheel relative to the cutter in accordance with an eccentric relief or a bevel cut to be made. The grinding wheel is driven by a drive motor via an envelope drive, which is located in a casing, which receives all the elements of the rotating and fixed parts, with the exception of the base and the upper ends of the carriers.Type: GrantFiled: September 24, 1988Date of Patent: August 8, 1989Assignees: Mikrona, AG, Ludwig RomhildInventors: Ludwig Romhild, Erwin Hartmann, Peter Reinhard

Patent number: 4820153Abstract: A process for treating periodontitis existing in the mouth of a patient having teeth with roots extending downwardly in the gums by using a scaler including a scraper with a cutting edge and a handle for the scraper. A dentist uses the scraper to remove tartar, concretions and necrotic root element from a tooth by guiding the cutting edge along the tooth root under the gums from the lowest point of the gum pocket and while exerting pressure on the root suddenly moving the cutting edge with a powerful jerk in scraping manner toward the chewing face of the tooth. The scaler is adapted for manual movement by the dentist and also has a mechanism which when actuated initiates and performs the jerk action without manual movement of the scraper by the dentist.Type: GrantFiled: November 4, 1986Date of Patent: April 11, 1989Assignees: Ludwig Romhild, Peter ReinhardInventors: Ludwig Romhild, Erwin Hartmann, Peter Reinhard
