  • Patent number: 5220994
Abstract: A process and apparatus for transporting stacked workpieces with aligned edges on a low friction workpiece support platform in which the shifting of individual panels relative to each other under the influence of inertia is precluded. The process includes the step of pressing the workpiece stack on the workpiece support platform. An apparatus that presses the workpiece stack is moved in its entirety along the direction in which the workpiece stack is transported.

  • Patent number: 5205705
Abstract: An apparatus and process for feeding panels to a panel cutting saw for conveying a stack of panels to a panel cutting saw so that the edges of the panels in the stack are aligned with respect to the cutting plane of the saw. An elevator platform supports a stack of panels. A panel conveyer transfers one or more panels at a time over a transfer platform to a panel feed platform. A repositionable barrier may be positioned between the saw and the panel feed platform. An alignment device aligns the panels of the stack against the barrier to produce a stack with at least one side in which the edges of the panels are aligned, prior to feeding of the stack into the panel cutting saw.

  • Patent number: 5004381
Abstract: A drilling machine for planar face and/or end face drilling on panel-type workpieces or panel blanks which offers advantageous machining possibilities is described. Associated with the drilling machine on its operating side opposite the workpiece advancing device are a workpiece aligning table with a side stop, at either side, and a clamping device for fixing workpieces or panel blanks on the workpiece supporting table. It is, for example, thereby possible for two workpieces which belong to one piece of furniture, and in which assembly bores are to be made in mirror-image relationship, to be jointly placed on one of the workpiece aligning tables, in each case, aligned at their respective side stop and then clamped in the workpiece slider of the workpiece advancing device. The idle times of the machine can thus be reduced to a minimum.

  • Patent number: 4988265
Abstract: A plate pushing device for pushing one or more workpiece plates off of a stack of workpiece plates resting on a lifting platform and into a woodworking machine, such as a plate saw. A pushing element is arranged for free vertical movement on a horizontally driven carriage. A support roller, coupled with the pushing element, extends below the pushing element to ride along the upper surface of the uppermost remaining workpiece plate and continuously maintain at least a predetermined space between the pushing element and the upper surface of the uppermost remaining workpiece plate, to preclude damage to the uppermost remaining workpiece plate by the pushing element during its pushing movement. A measuring device is provided on the carriage to detect the height of the lifting platform.

  • Patent number: 4911281
Abstract: A workpiece subdivided into a plurality of pieces ordered in closely juxtaposed rows is deposited on a stripping tray at an upstream end of a longitudinal path with the rows extending generally perpendicular to the direction and then an upstream edge of the tray carrying the subdivided workpiece is positioned above an upper surface of one of a plurality of distributing units spaced longitudinally along the path and a stripping bar vertically closely juxtaposed with the tray and extending transversely across the tray immediately downstream of the subdivided workpiece is shifted into engagement with the leading edge of the subdivided workpiece on the tray to slide the trailing row of pieces off the tray onto the surface positioned thereunder. The tray is then displaced downstream and stopped with its trailing edge above each of the other distributing units thereon and the deposition step is repeated to deposit on each of the units a respective row of the pieces.

  • Patent number: 4833954
Abstract: A plate subdividing and sorting machine includes a variegated subdividing device which subdivides the respective plate blank into final products arranged in the thus subdivided plate blank in respective longitudinal and transverse strips. The subdivided plate blank is shifted onto a stripping-off tray with which there is associated a stripping arrangement which strips the respective longitudinal strips off of the stripping-off tray and onto distributing roller conveyors which distributes the final products of the respective longitudinal strips in a sorted manner in accordance with their sizes to a plurality of adjacently arranged supply roller conveyors. The stripping arrangement includes a stripping blade which is movable, for the reduction of the cycle time, together with the remainder of the stripping arrangement, to at least two of the distribution roller conveyors that are arranged at a distance next to one another to deposit the longitudinal strips thereon.

  • Patent number: 4738345
Abstract: The invention relates to an improved roller table arrangement for the transportation, in a horizontal plane, of typically plate-shaped workpieces. The present invention provides a roller table of the form of rollers located on carrier rails, in which rolling transport may be accomplished either parallel to, or transversely to, the carrier rails, the aforesaid transportation being achieved through the use of interchangeable roller receiving means. The invention further provides a means by which uniform elevation of the rollers with respect to the carrier rails is accomplished in spite of the presence of swarf or other material debris upon the carrier rails. The present invention further provides for the selective conversion from roller table to workpiece support table through the use of support strips which may be placed upon the carrier rails in lieu of the roller receiving means.

  • Patent number: 4736511
Abstract: In sawing and drilling machine for splitting up and drilling panel-type workpieces, a saw carriage and a drilling device for planar face and/or end face drilling are guided below a machine table having a saw slit, along a straight-line guide parallel to the saw slit.To minimize the structural expenditure involved in guiding and driving the saw carriage and the drilling device, it is proposed that the drilling device be guidable along the straight-line guide of the saw carriage and that it be jointly adjustable with the saw carriage and that the saw slit be variable in its width.

  • Patent number: 4694871
Abstract: A process is described, with the aid of which panel-type workpieces to be manufactured from a panel blank may also be provided with flat face and/or end face bores in the course of their manufacture. For this purpose, the panel blank is displaced transversely to the cutting plane into a stop position, the flat face bores pertaining to one of the workpieces to be manufactured are subsequently made in the one flat side of the panel blank. To make the further flat face bores for the workpiece, the panel blank is then transported further in a clocked manner through predetermined paths in the same direction and bored after each advance. Upon completion of all of the flat face bores, the panel blank is displaced in a clocked manner in the opposite direction into predetermined positions, fixed after each advance, and lastly severed. For the end face boring, the panel blank is displaced in the direction of advance through a path corresponding to a side length of a workpiece and subsequently clamped and severed.
