  • Patent number: 6250559
Abstract: A thermostatic mixing valve having an inlet valve closure sleeve whose position relative to cold and hot water inlet valve seats is controlled by a temperature sensitive expansion element located in a mixing chamber. The closure sleeve is formed with a center body defining an annular gap through which water from the cold water inlet is channeled onto a baffle surface at the entrance to the mixing chamber. Water from the hot water inlet is also directed onto the baffle surface for turbulent mixing with water from the cold water inlet.

  • Patent number: 4193542
Abstract: A thermostatic valve for controlling flow comprises a housing formed of first and second parts providing a first chamber in which is located a valve seat and co-operating valve plate operable by a thermostatic element. The housing has an inlet and an outlet for the first chamber and, exterior of the latter, is a second chamber also formed by the two parts which provides a vent valve seat, the second chamber being intermediate of the inlet and outlet to the housing. The second chamber has a closing float element engageable with the vent valve seat to prevent air from disturbing the flow of the coolant over the thermostatic element.
