  • Patent number: 4252533
Abstract: Dyeing and printing with sulfur dyestuffs involves dissolving the dyestuff by reduction. The dissolved reduced dyestuff is applied to the material to be dyed or printed and the dyestuff is reconverted into in soluble dyestuff by oxidation. The present invention improves the prior art by using as the dyestuff reducing agent a compound of the formula ##STR1## or an alkali metal salt thereof, wherein R is --H or --OH and R' is --H, --CH.sub.3 or --CH.sub.2 OH.

  • Patent number: 4033945
Abstract: Very effective direct dyeing of cotton and other hydroxyl- or nitrogen-containing fibers is effected with water-soluble triasazo dyes having the formula:A-N=N-A.sup.1 -N=N-A.sup.2 -N=N-A.sup.3where A is a radical of a diazoconstituent and A.sup.3 is a radical of a coupling constituent ##STR1## and A.sup.1 or A.sup.2 or both can have their azo linkages reversed. These dyes are very fast particularly to washing and to perspiration, and are so effective with cotton that dye baths for such use are rapidly exhausted and the disposal of used bath is less of a problem.
