  • Patent number: 4977969
Abstract: An electronic weighing apparatus is provided, including a self-contained calibration weight module that is operated by a motor to alternately connect and disconnect, respectively, a calibration weight relative to the vertically-displaceable parallelogram-guided load receiving member of the scale. The calibration weight is normally suspended in an inoperable condition by means of a pair of internally threaded sleeves rotatably supported in the cover portion of the housing of the calibration weight module. A motor is operable to rotate the sleeves and thereby lower lifting screws threadably connected therewith, whereby the calibration weight is lowered toward a supported position between and in engagement with a pair of parallel carrier arms that extend horizontally from the load receiver.

  • Patent number: 4921058
Abstract: A protective wind screen (9) for weighing scales is provided that is of hollow generally tubular construction adapted for vertical mounting on the upper surface (15) of the scale housing (3) concentrically about the movable weighing pan (7). The wind screen includes a plurality of movably connected wall members at least one of which is of U-shaped construction including a base portion and a pair of spaced upwardly extending leg portions (25, 27) between which is a plate (17) is mounted. Preferably, the plate is mouned for removal from the U-shaped wall member, thereby to permit access for initial weighing adjustment of the scale, or for loading of the scale. A mounting shoulder is provided on the housing for preventing lateral movement of the wind screen when mounted on the housing upper surface.

  • Patent number: 4762190
Abstract: A weighing apparatus is provided with a wind shielding arrangement for protectively enclosing a load-receiving scale member. A plurality of symmetrical curvilinear concave transparent shell-like wind shield sections of unequal diameters of generation are concentrically mounted on the scale housing above the load-receiving pan for relative rotational movement about a common axis between a closed protective condition, and an open condition affording access to the scale pan. In one embodiment, a pair of shield sections have generally coplanar edge portions mounted in a pair of concentric circular grooves, respectively, contained in a support on the upper surface of the housing adjacent the load receiving member. The inner shield section is retained in its associated groove by a resilient annular retainer ring that extends radially outwardly above a radially inwardly extending lip portion on the lower edge of the inner shield section.
