  • Patent number: 6746018
Abstract: A multiple shaft seal arrangement positioned between a shaft and an inside diameter surface of an aperture in a wall. The multiple shaft seal arrangement has a flinger attached to the shaft with a face seal mounted to the flinger. A double lip oil seal is mounted to the inside diameter of the aperture. The flinger is positioned such that the face seal is pressed against the double lip oil seal. Accordingly, rotation of the shaft causes rotation of the flinger and face seal. This centrifugally throws contaminants, such as particulate matter, away from the aperture. The void between the face seal and the inside diameter of the aperture is filled with grease or similar substance. The combination of these elements greatly prohibits debris, moisture, particulate matter or other environmental elements from passing from one side of the multiple shaft seal arrangement to the other.

  • Patent number: 6663313
Abstract: A mounting system for a speed reducer having a housing with a rotatable input drive coupled with the housing and a gear train coupled with the input to drive an output. The mounting system has a cylinder having an inner and outer surface and two ends. The outer surface includes a portion adapted to couple with the drive train. The outer surface at both ends may have a threaded portion or another securement portion. The inner surface may be tapered from both the ends such that the tapers are substantially symmetrical about the cylinder. A bushing ring, with an internal diameter, may include threads to threadily connect with either threaded end of the output cylinder, or another type of securement may be used. A bushing, which includes a flange and a cylindrical portion, is adapted to couple with the bushing ring. The flange portion couples with the bushing ring on either side of the output cylinder.

  • Patent number: 4890504
Abstract: A new design for helical gearsets is disclosed in which the new gearsets meet all applicable ratings and standards of the American Gear Manufacturers Association (AGMA), and yet allows very substantial cost savings over prior similar gearsets having an equivalent AGMA rating. The gearsets of the instant invention generally are substantially thinner, and have fewer, but larger, gear teeth than the prior gearsets they replace. A helical gearset of the present invention includes a pinion and a gear, with the pinion and the gear each having a plurality of teeth. Each of these teeth has a helix angle ranging between about 18 degrees and 33 degrees. The pinion and the gear each have a face width and a whole depth, with the pinion having 13 or fewer teeth, and with the pinion and the gear having a face width-to-whole depth ratio of about 4.5 or less. The axial overlap of the gearset ranges between 1.001 and about 1.2.

  • Patent number: 4697675
Abstract: A backstop for a reducer having a casing comprises a one-way cylindrical clutch having a plurality of circularly arranged locking elements therein engaged by the periphery a reducer input shaft passing axially therethrough. To achieve a precise concentricity of the reducer shaft and the circularly arranged locking elements so that each element is stressed, the clutch is loosely housed in and loosely keyed to a clutch casing which is in turn firmly attached to a portion of the reducer casing and the one-way clutch and circularly arranged locking elements are then bushing aligned concentric with the reducer input shaft extending axially therethrough.

  • Patent number: 4212502
Abstract: An elongated, rectangular, bearing take-up frame has guide rails on the longitudinal frame members for guiding a slidably adjustable bearing block therebetween and an aperture in one end member midway between the guide rails for journalling and retaining a motion transmission screw nut. The frame is divided into two detachably connected portions so as to permit the lateral entry or removal of the bearing block and transmission screw and nut in a direction perpendicular to the axis of the bearing block.

  • Patent number: 4093324
Abstract: Sealing apparatus for a self-aligning bearing having a one-piece housing comprising three annular members on each side of the bearing, two of which members are axially assembled and fixed in the housing, the third annular member of each trio being axially assembled on the inner bearing race for rotation therewith and extending axially and radially between the other two, the three annular members each having axially and radially extending walls spaced from and coextending with axially and radially extending walls of the other two to form a tortuous path.
