  • Patent number: 5149023
Abstract: Side stick controllers with isolated pitch and roll control movement may be mechanically linked. A control stick mechanism includes a hand-operated control member (10, 10') movable to swing about two axes of rotation (12, 14). A first lever member (16, 16') on the control member (10, 10') moves in response to swinging movement of the control member (10, 10') about a first axis of rotation (12). A reciprocating member (20) has a first portion (22) pivotally attached to the control member (10, 10') at a location (24) spaced from the second axis of rotation (14). The reciprocating member (20) has an elongated second portion (26) axially movable along a line of reciprocation substantially co-axial with the first axis of rotation (12) in response to swinging movement of the control member (10, 10') about the second axis of rotation (14).

  • Patent number: 4403756
Abstract: A bifurcated feel unit for use in a dual path flight control system includes separate input levers for the pilot and copilot control paths. The input levers pivot about a common axis but are capable of independent rotation upon override of the breakout pogos associated with the control system external to the feel unit. Each input lever is coupled to a source of resistive force, preferably a piston within a hydraulic chamber. Normally the feel force supplied is the sum of the resistive forces applied to each input lever. In the event of a jam in one path of the flight control system, the feel force supplied to the remaining operable path is reduced in proportion to the reduction in available control surface.

  • Patent number: 4395172
Abstract: A cargo restraint and delivery system for an aircraft having a cargo-receiving and delivery opening for cargo secured to pallets. The cargo is moved backwardly and out of the rear cargo-delivery opening under either the pull of the parachute when the aircraft is airborne or by the force developed by the rapid acceleration of the aircraft for combat off-loading of cargo onto the ground. One of two spaced-apart guide rails for the pallets supports locks to releasably hold the pallets. A logistics control includes a lever at a loadmaster station to move a logistics control cable extending along the rail supporting the locks to move them into a first position where the pallet locks will release the pallets for movement either forward or aft of the aircraft and a second position where the pallet locks will prevent either forward or aft movement of a pallet.
