  • Patent number: 4732735
Abstract: When sterilizing packing materials for the aseptic packaging of fruit juice and wine using sulfurous acid it is suggested that the packing material be treated with an aqueous solution of sulfurous acid and alcohol.

  • Patent number: 4552785
Abstract: The invention relates to a process for the production of patterned lustre coatings on surfaces of bodies of glazed ceramic, in particular, tiles, glass or enamel using a cover corresponding to the pattern to be produced. On the surface of the body acting as substrate, a negative of the pattern is produced by a paste applied by screen printing, the body provided with the pattern negative is heated in a furnace to a temperature above approximately 400.degree. C., the body is subsequently dipped into the solution of a metallic compound which reacts with the surface of the body not covered by screen printing to form a thin layer of the metal and oxides of the metal. In the metal/metal oxide layer of the body whose surface is cooled down by dipping, lustre colors are produced by heat input. Finally, after formation of the lustre colors, the screen printing paste constituting the pattern negative is removed from the body.

  • Patent number: 4512282
Abstract: Apparatus for applying a thin, adhesive coating to plate-shaped bodies of glazed ceramic, e.g., tiles, glass or enamel. To this end, there are provided: a heated tank for receiving the dipping liquid; a cover hood shielding the tank and the liquid bath from the environment and comprising inlet and outlet slits for the plate-shaped bodies; a cooling device arranged in the cover hood; a conveyor mechanism extending from the inlet to the outlet slit on a downwardly curved path through the tank and a mechanism for adjustment of the length of the dipping section to lower and raise the liquid level in the tank.

  • Patent number: 4133710
Abstract: Adhesion between extruded polyethylene film and a substrate consisting of paper or paper lined metal foil is improved when the substrate and film are pressed together by passing through rollers which also cool the film to below its softening temperature, wherein at least one of said rolls which is brought into contact with the polyethylene coating is moistened on its rolling surface with a liquid having a critical surface tension below 73 dyne/cm, a boiling point below 100.degree. C and consisting of a mixture of water and between 10% and 50% ethyl alcohol.
