    Abstract: A process for manufacturing a biodegradable composition, involves compounding of at least (a) thermoplastic starch (TPS), (b) a vinyl ester polymer and (c) one or more plasticizer(s) for component (b), wherein the one or more plasticizer(s) (c) and optionally part of the vinyl ester polymer (b) is introduced only when all or a major part of thermoplastic starch is destructurized from granular/native starch. Preferably diacetin is used for plasticizer (c), and introduced only after destructurizing the starch.
