  • Publication number: 20190125896
Abstract: An anti-infective composition comprising glycogen or phytoglycogen nanoparticles is provided.
    Type: Application
    Filed: April 18, 2017
    Publication date: May 2, 2019
    Applicant: MIREXUS BIOTECHNOLOGIES INC.
Inventors: Sarah Ruth SCHOOLING, Lisa Suzanne BERTOLO, Anton KORENEVSKI, Erzsebet PAPP-SZABO, Karl Michael KLINGER
  • Patent number: 10172946
Abstract: Monodisperse glycogen or phytoglycogen nanoparticles are polyfunctional additives suitable for use in aqueous or alcohol-based cosmetic, pharmaceutical, or food formulations. The nanoparticles may be isolated from various sources (such as corn), and are optionally modified with a range of organic moieties (such as octenyl succinic acid). The monodisperse and particulate nature of the glycogen/phytoglycogen is believed to render such materials useful as rheological modifiers (including modulation of thixotropic behavior), stabilizers of organic and biological materials, and photostabilizers in sunscreens.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 25, 2014
Date of Patent: January 8, 2019
    Assignee: MIREXUS BIOTECHNOLOGIES INC.
Inventors: Anton Korenevski, Erzsebet Papp-Szabo, John Robert Dutcher, Oleg Stukalov
  • Publication number: 20180135079
Abstract: Polysaccharide nanoparticles that are particularly useful in for example drug and agent delivery, tissue-specific targeting, for medical imaging and diagnosis, as well as modifiers of physico-chemical properties. The nanoparticles can be highly-branched glucose homopolymers and can be characterized by a uniform spherical shape. They are monodisperse, hydrophilic and produce low solution viscosities. The nanoparticles are non-toxic, biocompatible and biodegradable. Also, the process of isolation of said polysaccharide nanoparticles from various organisms including, but not limited to, microorganisms such as bacteria and yeasts. Also provided are methods for chemical conjugation of the polysaccharide nanoparticles with various agents. Also provided are examples of use of the polysaccharide nanoparticles and their derivatives as drug delivery systems and fluorescent diagnostics.
    Type: Application
    Filed: November 17, 2017
    Publication date: May 17, 2018
Inventors: John Robert DUTCHER, Terry J. BEVERIDGE, Anton KORENEVSKI, Oleg STUKALOV, Erzsebet PAPP-SZABO
  • Publication number: 20170369597
Abstract: An industrially scalable process for producing substantially monodisperse compositions of phytoglycogen nanoparticles from phytoglycogen-containing plant materials is provided that avoids the use of chemical, enzymatic or thermo treatments that degrade the phytoglycogen material. Also provided are phytoglycogen nanoparticle compositions produced by these processes.
    Type: Application
    Filed: July 7, 2017
    Publication date: December 28, 2017
Inventors: Anton KORENEVSKI, Erzsebet PAPP-SZABO, John Robert DUTCHER, Oleg STUKALOV, Rokshana NAZNIN, Khalid MOOMAND
  • Patent number: 9737608
Abstract: A composition of phytoglycogen nanoparticles purified from a phytoglycogen-containing plant material is provided. The composition of phytoglycogen nanoparticles is monodisperse. A method of isolating the composition from phytoglycogen-containing plant materials is provided that includes steps of microfiltration and ultrafiltration, but avoids the use of chemical, enzymatic or thermo treatments that degrade the phytoglycogen material.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 25, 2014
Date of Patent: August 22, 2017
    Assignee: MIREXUS BIOTECHNOLOGIES INC.
