  • Patent number: 7853620
Abstract: The present invention discloses a system and method for transmitting files over a datacast network while maintaining meta-data associated with the files. The system employs devices programmed to operate according to a protocol that preserves a file's properties such as, for example, its name, type, length, and hierarchical relationship, i.e. the file's absolute or relative location.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 3, 2007
Date of Patent: December 14, 2010
    Assignee: Nokia Corporation
Inventors: Toni Paila, Juha-Pekka Luoma, Esa Jalonen
  • Patent number: 7512084
Abstract: Event driven methods for implementing or removing a filter used in receiving a multicast transmission are disclosed. An exemplary method for implementing a filter includes: detecting a message, such as an IPv6 MLD message, wherein the message comprises an address of a multicast group and a request to join the multicast group to receive a multicast transmission; in response to detecting the message, determining a filter parameter (e.g., a PID number and/or MAC address) needed to receive the multicast transmission; and implementing the filter parameter to receive the multicast transmission. Alternative methods wherein filter implementation or removal is based on the detection of direct procedure calls, such as a Setsockopt call, are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 7468983
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for communicating codec related information between a first mobile communication device (UE1) and a second mobile communication device (UE2) via a network. The codec related information relates to operational modes of an adaptive multi-rate (AMR) codec. The information is transmitted by the first mobile communication device (UE1) to the second mobile communication device (UE2) in a form of a binary mask in an SDP (Session Description Protocol) body (33) of a SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) INVITE message (31), a value of 1 indicating the operational modes which are supported by the first mobile communication device (UE1). In the event that the network does not support at least one of the operational modes that the codec related information indicates as being supported the network modifies the codec related information accordingly.

  • Publication number: 20060173921
Abstract: Systems and methods for file transmission and reception that involve augmenting protocols such as real time protocol (RTP), a protocol for transmitting and receiving real-time data such as audio, video and simulation data, so that they may be used for file transmission and reception. Further systems and methods for file transmission and reception allow for one or more files to be transmitted for presentation in synchrony with media such as audio, video, or the like.

  • Publication number: 20040133669
Abstract: A method for eliminating the need for custom interfaces between client PC applications and DVB-T receivers. The method uses existing TCP/IP structure to provide details of all currently active connections, and uses a cross reference system on DVB-T SI to identify any filter state changes that are needed. This system obtains filter information by polling the UDP Listener Table or by detecting IGMP status changes. These methods are implemented in receiving terminals, and overcome significant limitations to current methods.
