  • Patent number: 5585038
Abstract: The invention relates to a conductive polymer complex which contains a polyaniline or derivative thereof doped with a protonic acid. By the method according to the invention, a conductive polymer is obtained having substantially reduced acidity, sufficiently high conductivity level, and which is suitable, for example, for being melt processed in conventional plastics processing apparatus. The acidity of the conductive polymer can be reduced by having the conductive polymer contain both a metal compound and an additionally neutralizing compound. The obtained conductive polymer material, having a pH value of approximately 3-8, can be mixed with an insulating polymer to produce a conductive plastics mixture. The invention also relates to a method of preparing a conductive polymer that is more processable by incorporating therein a plasticizing agent selected from the group consisting of water, a C.sub.1 -C.sub.3 alcohol, and mixtures thereof.

  • Patent number: 5507977
Abstract: The present invention is directed to electrically conducting complexes, methods of producing them, and their use in producing plastic materials with high electrical conductivity. The invention is particularly directed to an electrically conducting complex formed of two components, the total dissolution of which is avoided. The complex according to the invention has a more highly conductive component (A) and a component (B), which is capable of dissolving component (A). In a complex according to the invention, component (A) and component (B) are combined in such a way that limited dissolution takes place at the interface between the two, whereby the advantages of both components are obtained in the complex. The invention also concerns a method of producing the complex and use of the complex together with a polymer matrix to form plastic materials having high electrical conductivity.
