Patent number: 10994082Abstract: An inhaler for delivery of a medicament by inhalation is disclosed. The inhaler comprises a dispensing mechanism, the dispensing mechanism being configured to dispense a dose of medicament on actuation. The inhaler further comprises a dose counting mechanism comprising a counter and a translating member. The translating member comprises a pawl. The counter comprises a first count wheel, a second count wheel and an intermediate wheel engaged with the second count wheel and in selective engagement with the first count wheel. When the inhaler is fired to dispense a dose of medicament, the dispensing mechanism moves the translating member in a substantially linear direction. The pawl thus rotates the first count wheel, and as the first count wheel rotates, the intermediate wheel is selectively engaged thereby selectively rotating the second count wheel to count the doses of the inhaler.Type: GrantFiled: September 12, 2018Date of Patent: May 4, 2021Assignee: ASTRAZENECA ABInventors: Simon Christopher Berry, Jonas Christiansen, Svend Erik Elgaard, Esben W. Patent number: 10716899Abstract: An auto injector having sequential control of needle insertion and dose injection is disclosed. A syringe with a needle is movably positioned in a housing between a first position in which the needle is accommodated inside the housing and a second position in which the needle protrudes outside the housing. A plunger rod tube has at least one locking member configured to normally lock a plunger rod to the plunger rod tube. A syringe driver applies a force to the syringe to move the syringe together with plunger rod tube, plunger rod and plunger rod driver from the first position to the second position. In the second position, the locking member is unlocked and releases the plunger rod to thereby activate the plunger rod driver to advance the plunger rod in the syringe for delivering of at least one dose of medicament.Type: GrantFiled: August 18, 2017Date of Patent: July 21, 2020Assignee: MERCK PATENT GMBHInventors: Soeren Bechmann, Flemming Madsen, Esben W. Publication number: 20190336685Abstract: A reloadable auto injector wherein a syringe assembly is movably positioned between a first position in which the needle is accommodated inside a housing and a second position in which the needle protrudes outside the housing. The assembly comprises a syringe, a plunger rod and a plunger rod driver configured to apply a force to the plunger rod to advance the plunger rod in the syringe for delivering at least one dose of medicament. A syringe driver is configured to apply a force to the assembly thereby moving the assembly from the first position to the second position. A reload handle may be connected to the assembly so that user operation of the reload handle retracts the assembly to the first position and simultaneously reload the syringe driver to thereby ready the auto injector for delivering a further dose of medicament. The plunger rod driver is not re-activated.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 15, 2019Publication date: November 7, 2019Applicant: Merck Patent GmbHInventors: Soeren BECHMANN, Flemming MADSEN, Esben W. Patent number: 10092701Abstract: A medical cartridge containing multiple doses of a medical drug is disclosed. An outlet end is arranged to be connected to an injection needle for delivering the medical drug. The medical cartridge comprises a one way valve arranged in an interior part of the medical cartridge at a position near the outlet end. The one way valve allows a fluid flow from the interior of the medical cartridge towards the outlet end, but prevents a fluid flow from the outlet end towards the interior of the medical cartridge. Thereby the risk of contamination of the medical drug remaining in the cartridge is minimized.Type: GrantFiled: May 18, 2015Date of Patent: October 9, 2018Assignee: MEDICOM INNOVATION PARTNER A/SInventors: Esben W.
