  • Patent number: 8647316
Abstract: An ostomy receiving bag includes front and rear walls sealed along a rim of the bag and a cover sheet attached to the bag. The bag has a lateral midline located between an upper end of the bag and a bottom end of the bag, with an inlet opening nearer to the upper end than to the bottom end of the bag. The cover sheet is attached to the upper end of the bag at the rim and covers at least part of one of the walls to form a pocket and an unattached edge between the upper end of the bag and the bottom end of the bag. A collecting volume of the bag is reduced by at least 25% when the bottom end of the bag is placed under the cover sheet to a position between the lateral midline and the upper end of the bag.

  • Patent number: 7150728
Abstract: A collecting bag is provided with a vent aperture to allow for escape of gases which may accumulate in the bag during use. The vent aperture is formed in an extension member that is connected with the bag member. In order to bring the vent aperture from a fully open condition to a fully closed condition, the extension member is folded at least once along a folding line, thereby bringing a first engagement surface into engagement with a second engagement surface. A net element may be positioned between the inlet opening of the bag member and the extension member and a filter device may be positioned within the extension member.

  • Patent number: 6589222
Abstract: An ostomy appliance comprising a body side member, an optionally separately exchangeable receiving member or bag secured to the body side member, said body side member comprising a ring-shaped body having an adhesive wafer having a hole for accommodating a stoma and further a separate sealing member which, when in use, is placed in the hole for sealing against the stoma, wherein the separate sealing member has a hole for accommodating the stoma and comprises a mouldable mass of a hypo-allergenic, substantially non-memory putty-like adhesive in the form of a disc, wherein the disc has an outer diameter smaller than the diameter of the hole of the wafer or pad of the ostomy body side member, wherein the disc has a flange member that is supplied with a folding zone that offers a flexible and secure means for sealing between the stoma and the body side member and may be exchanged separately leaving the body side member.
