Publication number: 20200221771Abstract: A vaporization device includes a wick with improved aerosol production properties relative to a traditional wick, for example one formed of silica fiberglass cord. According to some aspects, the wick is formed of discontinuous fibers that are not packed together and that have varying orientations, creating a plurality of voids, or spaces, between the various fibers and along the length of the wick. This design of voids along the length of the wick allows for rapid wick saturation and air exchange. Because of this, a user can take successive long puffs without noticing much difference in vapor production, as the liquid quickly (e.g., within seconds) replenishes in the wick.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 28, 2018Publication date: July 16, 2020Inventors: Ariel Atkins, Adam Bowen, Esteban Leon Duque

Publication number: 20200138114Abstract: Cartridges for vaporizer devices are provided. In one exemplary embodiment, the cartridge can include a primary reservoir, a secondary reservoir in fluid communication with the primary reservoir, and a vaporization chamber in communication with the secondary reservoir in which the vaporization chamber includes a first wicking element. The primary reservoir is configured to store a majority fraction of vaporizable material when in a first pressure state and configured to expel the vaporizable material in response to an increase in headspace when in a second pressure state. The secondary reservoir is formed of absorbent material configured to receive a first volume of the vaporizable material from the primary reservoir in the first pressure state and to receive a second volume of the vaporizable material from the primary reservoir in the second pressure state in which the second volume is greater than the first volume. Vaporizer devices are also provided.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 5, 2019Publication date: May 7, 2020Inventors: Ariel Atkins, Alexander M. Hoopai, Esteban Leon Duque, Christopher James Rosser, Andrew J. Stratton, Norbert Wesely

Publication number: 20200120987Abstract: Methods and vaporizer apparatuses that estimate, measure and/or predict the amount of vapor and/or material (including active ingredients) released by the vaporizer apparatus. In particular, described herein are electronic vaporizers and methods of using them that determine a dose/amount of vapor and/or a material in the vapor based primarily or exclusively on the electrical and thermal properties, e.g., power or energy applied to the vaporizing element (e.g., heating coil) and the temperature of the material immediately before and as it is vaporized. Dose information may be used to control operation of the device and/or reported to the user.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 18, 2019Publication date: April 23, 2020Inventors: Ariel Atkins, Adam Bowen, Bradley J. Ingebrethsen, Esteban Leon Duque, James Monsees
