    Abstract: In a method for detecting the face of a driver of a motor vehicle having a camera, in order to ensure that an unfavorable posture of the driver or an unfavorable position of the steering wheel or of the driver's seat of the motor vehicle does not prevent recognition of the face using the camera, provision is made that a positioning signal for the steering wheel, for the driver's seat, or for a pedal is generated if the face is not detectable in the image data.
