  • Patent number: 11092167
Abstract: A variable guide vane (VGV) apparatus has a variable guide vane (VGV) rotatable about a vane rotation axis. An actuating arm is mounted to the VGV. The actuating arm has a fork defining a slot for receiving a drive pin. The slot has a curved contour configured to act as a vane angle schedule adjustment.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 19, 2019
Date of Patent: August 17, 2021
Assignee: PRATT & WHITNEY CANADA CORP.
    Inventors: Tibor Urac, Esther Leung
  • Patent number: 11092032
Abstract: A variable guide vane (VGV) apparatus has a variable guide vane (VGV) rotatable about a vane rotation axis. An actuating arm is mounted to the VGV. The actuating arm has a fork defining a slot for receiving a drive pin. The slot is profiled to accommodate angular misalignment between the pin and the fork throughout a range of motion of the associated pin along the slot.

  • Publication number: 20190301488
Abstract: A gas path duct for a gas turbine engine comprises an gas path defined around a longitudinal axis between an inner shroud and an outer shroud. The gas path adapted to receive therein a variable-pitch vane mounted between the inner and outer shrouds. The variable-pitch vane adapted to be pivotable about a pivot axis extending across the gas path between an outer pivot point and an inner pivot point. A portion of at least one of the inner and outer shrouds defines a spherical surface having a concave shape facing the longitudinal axis and extending away from a corresponding one of the inner and outer pivot points. The spherical surface having a center positioned on the pivot axis and a radius equal to a distance, perpendicular to the longitudinal axis, between the longitudinal axis and the corresponding one of the inner and outer pivot points.

  • Patent number: 9644491
Abstract: A single bolting flange arrangement for variable inlet guide vane (VIGV) connection includes a connection arm connected to a stem of the VIGV to rotate the VIGV. The connection arm is driven by a drive pin received in a slot of the connection arm. The connection arm has a bolting flange and the stem of the VIGV is fastened to one side of the single bolting flange by a bolt/nut assembly.
