  • Patent number: 12202478
Abstract: Systems, apparatuses, and methods for controlling a transmission and other vehicle systems and components based on operation of an auxiliary braking system for a vehicle are disclosed. A controller for a vehicle includes a processing circuit having at least one memory device coupled to at least one processor, the at least one memory device is configured to store instructions thereon that, when executed by the at least one processors, cause the at least one processor to: receive data regarding operation of an auxiliary brake system of the vehicle; determine an auxiliary brake fault condition based on the received data regarding operation of the auxiliary brake system; determine that the vehicle is on or is about to experience a negative road grade; determine a vehicle speed is greater than a requested vehicle speed for the negative road grade; and control a transmission to downshift at least two settings relative to a current transmission setting.

  • Publication number: 20240227778
Abstract: In some implementations, a method may include obtaining target fault data indicating a preselected fault for a vehicle having a hydrogen source. In addition, the method may include obtaining vehicle fault data indicating a fault of the vehicle. The method may include identifying a match between the fault and the preselected fault. Moreover, the method may include purging, in response to the identifying the match, hydrogen from the hydrogen source so as to reduce consequences of a battery thermal event by reducing the likelihood of a hydrogen-fueled fire.

  • Publication number: 20240174259
Abstract: A vehicle system includes a plurality of automated driving system electronic control units (ADS ECUs) configured to determine vehicle motion control (VMC) commands in response to input from one or more vehicle environment sensors and transmit messages including the VMC commands over one or more communication links. An execution authority electronic control unit (EA ECU) is configured with execution authority over one or more VMC commands and is configured to receive, evaluate, and execute a VMC command associated with a received message.

  • Patent number: 11580862
Abstract: A control system for a vehicle includes an engine controller operable to determine a requested engine torque in response to a cruise control set command and a cruise control offset value, determine an engine torque command in response to the requested engine torque and a torque limit, and control operation of an engine in response to the engine torque command. The control system also includes a platooning controller operable to determine and provide to the engine controller the cruise control set command, the cruise control offset value and the torque limit effective to cause the engine controller to control the engine to provide a desired following distance between the vehicle and a second vehicle.
