Publication number: 20230218788Abstract: Surface disinfection for enclosures with Ultra-Violet (UV) light and illuminating such enclosures with visible light. Particular embodiments relate to limiting the transmission of viruses and bacteria in the interior space of an aircraft, such as a lavatory, through the use of UV light application, while providing visible light to passengers of such lavatory, both in a safe and compliant manner. This disclosure provides a lighting system and method that combines a visible light emitter and a UV light emitter into a single light system module. Although UV light is a preferred method of neutralizing pathogens, its use is not safe for human exposure. Accordingly, the disclosed lighting system is capable of detecting the presence of an occupant within an enclosure or defined space and only allows the visible light emitter to function (and prevents the UV light emitter from functioning) while people or animals are present within the electromagnetic range for the lighting system.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 11, 2022Publication date: July 13, 2023Inventors: Etienne Tomasena, Marco Hollm, Ruediger Meckes, Sherif Mattar, Tyler Smithson, Marie De la Cruz

Publication number: 20230061757Abstract: A vehicle lavatory monument assembly that includes an enclosure having a plurality of walls that cooperate to define a lavatory interior, an entry door positioned on one of the plurality of walls, and a sanitization assembly positioned in the lavatory interior. The sanitization assembly includes a duct portion that includes an inner surface that defines a duct interior, an inlet, an outlet and an airflow path that extends from the inlet, through the duct interior and out the outlet. A fan is positioned to move air in through the inlet and out through the outlet. An air sanitizing light system that includes at least a first air sanitizing light emitter is disposed in the duct interior between the inlet and the outlet. A reflective coating is disposed on at least a portion of the inner surface.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 31, 2021Publication date: March 2, 2023Inventors: Tyler Smithson, Tim Birbeck, Etienne Tomasena

Patent number: 11472561Abstract: An oxygen generator outlet manifold assembly that includes an outlet manifold and an end cover. The outlet manifold includes a main body portion with inner and outer surfaces and at least a first hose connector that includes an outlet defined therein extending from the main body portion. The main body portion defines a main body portion interior that includes a connection opening defined in the inner surface, a ring chamber, a flow space and a distribution chamber. An annular ring is positioned in the main body portion chamber interior and separates the ring chamber from the distribution chamber. The end cover includes a generator outlet portion extending therefrom that is received in the connection opening. The generator outlet portion includes an outlet valve having an open and a closed state and includes an interior chamber that cooperates with the ring chamber to define an outlet chamber.Type: GrantFiled: January 10, 2020Date of Patent: October 18, 2022Assignee: ZODIAC CABIN CONTROLS GMBH.Inventors: Ruediger Meckes, Wolfgang Rittner, Andreas Westphal, Etienne Tomasena

Patent number: 11427333Abstract: A passenger service unit assembly that includes a frame that defines at least an oxygen opening and a service opening, an oxygen mask housing positioned adjacent the oxygen opening, an oxygen mask housing cover positioned to cover the oxygen opening, and a service cover positioned to cover the service opening. An oxygen mask that is movable between a stowed position and a deployed position is positioned in the oxygen mask housing. The oxygen mask housing cover maintains the oxygen mask in the stowed position. The oxygen mask housing cover is movable between a closed position and an open position. When the oxygen mask housing cover is moved to the deployed position, the oxygen mask drops to the deployed position via gravity. The service cover is movable between a closed position and an open position and includes at least a first passenger service unit component associated therewith.Type: GrantFiled: February 18, 2020Date of Patent: August 30, 2022Assignee: ZODIAC CABIN CONTROLS GMBHInventors: Ruediger Meckes, Marco Hollm, Andreas Westphal, Etienne Tomasena
