  • Publication number: 20060153178
Abstract: A method for determining at least one operational transmit power Snk over a communication channel (Ln) coupled to a disturbance causing transceiver (n) for at least one tone (k), comprises the steps of provision of at least one reference victim communication channel (Lref) for representing at least one reference victim for all victim communication channels which are degraded by cross-talk interferences by said communication channel (Ln), and maximizing the data rate (Rref) over said at least one reference victim communication channel (Lref) under the constraint that the data rate over said communication channel (Ln) achieves a target rate (Rntarget) without exceeding a power constraint (Pnmax).

  • Publication number: 20060126708
Abstract: The present invention relates to a Noise measurement method and a related device for noise measurement in a Digital Subscriber Line transmission system. Such a system comprises a transmitting Digital Subscriber Line modem and a receiving Digital Subscriber Line modem where the transmitting Digital Subscriber Line modem is coupled over a communication line to the receiving Digital Subscriber Line modem. The method of the present invention comprises the step the receiving Digital Subscriber Line modem receiving a symbol transmitted by the transmitting modem. Subsequently the receiving Digital Subscriber Line modem demaps the symbol received onto a constellation point. The receiving Digital Subscriber Line modem then performs a noise measurement based on the difference between the received symbol and the determined constellation point.

  • Publication number: 20060028873
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for data-flow quality control in a Digital Subscriber Line communications system comprising a transmitter, a receiver, and a Digital Subscriber Line intercoupling the transmitter and the receiver. The transmitter sends a data-flow to the receiver, where the data-flow is modulated onto data-carriers according to a bit allocation indicative for the number of bits to be modulated on each data-carrier. The method comprises the steps of the receiver measuring the data-flow quality and subsequently the receiver instructs the transmitter to decrease the bit allocation with a same amount for a plurality of data-carriers in case the data-flow quality is unsatisfactorily low. Then the transmitter decreases the bit allocation accordingly.
