  • Patent number: 7197365
Abstract: An object of the present invention is to realize an in-home network system that is capable of smoothly controlling an appliance even when a new kind of appliance that has not been obtained conventionally is connected to an in-home network or even when an unusual, special use form is set in a network. A controller of the present invention compares a device type of an appliance connected to an in-home network with a skeleton stored in a skeleton DB. When a skeleton rule in accordance with the appliance type is not stored in the skeleton DB, a request for acquisition of the skeleton rule of the appliance is transmitted to a service agent. In addition, when the location of an appliance is moved, the controller sends a request for transmission of a new rule format to be added due to the movement to the service agent.

  • Publication number: 20050044225
Abstract: Provided is a network system which is capable of smooth remote control of appliances in a household while improving the security. A household server for controlling home appliances and an external server for mediating between the household server and a user terminal are set on an Internet. The household server gives a right to access only to the external server that is registered in advance. When accessed by the user terminal, the external server performs user authentication and, if the access is authenticated as from an authorized user, specifies which household server is to be used by the user, and makes an access request to the corresponding server. The household server checks whether the access request is valid or not and, when the access request is found as a result to be valid, allows the user terminal to input a control instruction through the intermediation of the external server.

  • Publication number: 20030215149
Abstract: A color characteristic quantity processor capable of reducing the volume of processing at the time of computation of a color descriptor and miniaturizing the processor by minimizing image memory for storing decoded data. A VLD section 12 outputs only DC component data among decoded data, and the data are inversely-quantized by an IQ section 14. In the case of an intra frame coded image, an output from the IQ section 13 is stored in image memory 16 without modification. In the case of an inter frame coded image, data which have been subjected to motion compensation performed by an MC section 18 and an addition section 20 are stored. A frame division section 22 divides the data stored in the image memory 16 into 64 (8×8) areas. In each of the areas, a mean value of the data is computed. An 8×8 DCT section 24 subjects the 64 mean values to DCT, and a predetermined number of DCT coefficients from the top are stored as color descriptors in a color characteristic quantity data holding section 28.

  • Patent number: 6075556
Abstract: A method is disclosed, for encoding a signal with a three dimensional image sequence using a series of left and right images. Each image in the left image series is a picture formed by non-interlaced or interlaced scanned left line images, and each image in the right image series is a picture formed by non-interlaced or interlaced scanned right line images. The left line images contained in the left picture are merged with the right line images contained in the right picture to produce an alternately arranged left and right line merged picture. The merged picture is encoded using an MPEG-2 compliant encoder.

  • Patent number: 5963673
Abstract: A method and apparatus for adaptively selecting a coding mode for video encoding systems using the techniques of predictive coding, interpolative coding, motion compensation, discrete cosine transformation (DCT), adaptive quantization, or variable length coding. In one system, a value related to an amount of total code, which is composed of current video code and its coding parameters for each of the above coding modes, is determined, respectively, and a coding mode corresponding to the smallest value is selected. Then, the encoding is performed using the selected coding mode.

  • Patent number: 5808700
Abstract: A motion vector detecting circuit and a motion video compressing system are disclosed. The detecting circuit detect a vector which direct from a spatial location of a current macroblock to a spatial location of a reference macroblock. The detecting circuit includes a first extracting circuit, a second extracting circuit and a searching circuit. The first extracting circuit extracts upper bits from each pixel data of the current macroblock. The second extracting circuit extracts upper bits from each pixel data of the reference frame. The searching circuit searches the upper-bits-extracted reference frame for a macroblock having the strongest correlation with the current macroblock by comparing the upper-bits-extracted current macroblock with the upper-bits-extracted reference frame and outputs the spatial location of the reference macroblock. The motion video compressing system includes the motion vector detecting circuit, a transform-coding circuit, a subtracter, a comparator and a controller.
