Abstract: A translation system and method of translating information, such as a homepage, written in a first language into a second language, when the information is written in accordance with a markup language grammar and provided by an information providing apparatus, such as a server computer connected to the Internet.

Abstract: A document detection system capable of detecting a desired document from a large number of documents easily and accurately in which the user can make a judgement concerning the appropriateness of the detection result quickly. In the system, those documents which contain a semantic structure of a detection command containing natural language expressions entered by a user are detected. Also, the keywords of each document can be extracted from the summary of each document and those documents whose keywords match with detection keywords specified by a user can be detected. Also, the summary of each detected document can be automatically generated according to text structures of each detected document and displayed along with the detected document itself. Also, the detection processing can be carried out with respect to the summaries of the documents instead of the documents themselves.

Abstract: A human interface system constructed by connecting systems containing a plurality of computers via a network includes site building means for building a plurality of sites that either retain or manage a plurality pieces of data and a plurality of programs, and access managing means for managing users' access to each site. The access managing means has a communication channel between the users established by accessing the sites via the data and programs.

Abstract: A machine translation system including an input unit, a first text memory, a translation dictionary, a translation processor, a second text memory, and a control editor. The first and second text memories respectively store an original text and a translated text. The translation dictionary includes a word/idiom dictionary. The translation processor executes translation processing of the original text using the content of the translation dictionary to obtain the translated text. The control editor controls the respective units, and performs edit processing of at least the translated text.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for machine translation of a language capable of dealing efficiently with situations which conventionally required repetitions of similar translations, including the steps of: searching, for each new original document to be translated, the stored original documents which are utilizable in translation of the new original document to be translated; and translating the new original document to be translated by utilizing the stored translated documents corresponding to the stored original document found by the search.

Abstract: A cationic herbicidal composition which contains as an active ingredient a quaternary ammonium salt of the general formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 is an alkyl or alkenyl group of up to 22 carbon atoms; R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 each is an alkyl or alkenyl group of up to 22 carbon atoms, a benzyl group or a hydroxyalkyl group of up to 4 carbon atoms; R.sub.4 is a hydroxyalkyl group of up to 4 carbon atoms; and R.sub.5 is an alkyl group of 1 to 22 carbon atoms, a phenyl group, a C.sub.1-22 alkyl- or hydroxy-substituted phenyl group, or a naphthyl group.

Abstract: This invention relates to a flame retardant for synthetic fiber substrates and a method of imparting flame resistance to such substrates using the flame retardant. The flame retardant of this invention comprises 75 to 95 weight parts of a hexabromocyclododecane compound having a melting point not less than 195.degree. C. and 25 to 5 weight parts of a hexabromocyclododecane compound having a melting point less than 160.degree. C., which hexabromocyclododecane compounds are available on bromination of trans-trans-cis-cyclododecatriene. This flame retardant imparts excellent flame resistance to synthetic fiber substrates. Moreover, when a synthetic fiber substrate is dyed using a dye bath containing this flame retardant and a dye, the soiling of the substrate and dyeing equipment is kept at the minimum.
