  • Publication number: 20150220708
Abstract: Unique identification information is prerecorded on a disc. The identification information is registered to a server along with user's license when he or she buys the disc. When an terminal unit reproduces data from the disc, identification information is read and transmitted to the server through the Internet. The server creates a key that controls to reproduce data from the disc in accordance with the license identified by the identification information and transmits the key to the terminal unit along with the user's license information for the disc. The terminal unit controls to reproduce contents of the disc in accordance with key and license information transmitted from the server. The license for each disc is managed in accordance with the identification information. Thus, different services can be provided for individual discs.

  • Patent number: 8634287
Abstract: An information signal area on an information signal recording surface is provided as pits on a mirror in accordance with modulated information data, and is covered with a metal alloy reflective film. Sections that do not include pits corresponding to the information data are provided in the information signal area, and portions of the metal alloy reflective film on the sections are formed as perforated marks corresponding to the information data. In this case, the reproduction signal amplification level of a prepit signal and the reproduction signal amplitude level of a perforated mark signal can be obtained as substantially equal values by adjusting the depth and width of pits and/or adjusting the width and length of perforated marks. Hence, waveform distortion due to a waveform equalization circuit and variations in binary signals due to displacement of the slice level are reduced so that signals can be stably and reliably detected with the same reading apparatus.

  • Patent number: 7506378
Abstract: First, an ID added disc is loaded. A disc ID is read from the disc at step S2. The disc ID matches a hardware ID of hardware that can use software recorded on the disc. If the disc ID has not been read from the disc, an error process is performed. At step S3, a hardware ID of hardware connected to a personal computer is obtained. At step S4, it is determined whether or not both the IDs match. When the determined result represents that they match, at step S5, an application starts. When the determined result at step S4 represents that they do not match, at step S6, an error message is displayed on a display of the personal computer.

  • Patent number: 7496965
Abstract: On a CD-R, a UID that is unique identification information is pre-recorded. When the CD-R is loaded into an information terminal unit, the UID is read and transmitted to a management server through the Internet. The management server determines whether predetermined data can be recorded onto the CD-R in accordance with the received UID. For example, when the UID is valid, contents data is downloaded from the management server to the information terminal unit and recorded onto the CD-R. In addition, for example, when the UID is valid, a notification that represents that contents data is permitted to be copied or moved is transmitted from the management server to the information terminal unit. As a result, contents data recorded on another recording medium can be copied or moved to the CD-R.

  • Publication number: 20050141711
Abstract: A data recording medium on which digital data is recorded eliminates acquisition by a user of a plurality of data recording media for different applications to improve the convenience is provided. Digital data for a plurality of different applications and UIDs as identification information added for the individual applications are recorded on the same data recording medium. For example, a music CD on which data for promotion and data for a normal version are managed with different UIDs from each other is distributed as a CD for promotion. The data for promotion allow free reproduction thereof. If a user tries the music CD and wants to purchase the data for a normal version, then the user would access a server owned or managed by a record company of a distributor of the music CD to perform a charging procedure. This validates the UID with which the data for a normal version is managed, and after the UID is authenticated by the server, reproduction of the full data is permitted.

  • Publication number: 20050080877
Abstract: On a CD-R 1, a UID that is unique identification information is pre-recorded. When the CD-R 1 is loaded into an information terminal unit 10, the UID is read and transmitted to a management server 12 through Internet 11. The management server 12 determines whether or not predetermine data can be recorded onto the CD-R 1 in accordance with the received UID. For example, when the UID is valid, contents data is downloaded from the management server 12 to the information terminal unit 10 and recorded onto the CD-R 1.
