Abstract: The invention relates to a method for polishing optical connector end faces and a small-sized, light and easily transportable machine for doing the same, which are able to polish optical fiber end faces to desired shapes. A tape support member (18) is disposed at the connection end face (3) side of a multiple-core optical connector (4) attached on a machine, The tape support member(18) is linked to a supporting rod (21) which is able to freely advance and retreat along side plates (23a) and (23b), a tape travelling plane (9) shaped so as to correspond to a desired end face shape of bare optical fibers of a multiple-core optical connector (4) is formed at the tip end of the tape support member (18). The leading end of a polishing tape (32) wound on the pay-out roller (30) is advanced along the tape travelling plane (9) and is taken up on the winding roller (31).

Abstract: A method for stacking ferrules of a stacked-type optical connector wherein stacking portions for stacking are provided in corresponding positions of each ferrule, the individual ferrules are stacked with the corresponding individual stacking portions aligned, and a plurality of ferrules are simultaneously stacked up with stacking members which work in cooperation with those corresponding stacking portions in such a manner that the ferrules can practically float with a specific degree of freedom to allow a gap between the ferrules, and a stacked-type optical connector assembled according to this method.

Abstract: A closure for a cable connector covered at the ends of the cables connected to each other in a sleeve through end face plates for closing both ends of the sleeve. Grasping fittings are mounted at the ends of the cable contained in the sleeve which has axial restricting means and/or rotational restricting means provided in the sleeve for preventing the grasping fittings from moving axially and/or rotationally. Thus, the closure can provide mechanical strength sufficient for enduring loads such as tension, compression and twist transmitted through the cables.
