  • Patent number: 6325681
Abstract: An electrical cable connector comprises a plurality of female contacts 20 and a plurality of cables 50. The female contacts 20 are aligned and retained in a row extending in a right and left direction in an insulative housing 10, and one end of each cable is connected to a corresponding female contact in the insulative housing 10. Each of the female contacts comprises a base portion 21, which is fixed in the insulative housing 10 and to which the core wire of a corresponding cable 50 is connected, and a resilient arm portion 25, which is continuous from the base portion 21 and extends along the base portion 21 with a predetermined distance therebetween. When this connector is engaged with a matable connector, each female contact receives and holds a corresponding male contact of the matable connector in a space between the base portion 21 and the resilient arm portion 25, thus establishing the electrical connection of the female and male contacts.

  • Patent number: 6299481
Abstract: A shielded connector comprises a plurality of female contacts 20 and a shield cover 30. The female contacts 20 are aligned and retained in a row extending in a right and left direction in an insulative housing 10, and said shield cover 30 is mounted on the insulative housing 10. A plurality of insertion openings 11a are provided at the front of the insulative housing 10, and the male contacts of a matable connector being inserted through the insertion openings 11a into the shielded connector are engaged with the female contacts 20. The shield cover 30 is formed of an electrically conductive plate and bent in a “U” figure, and it is provided with a plurality of through holes 36. When the shield cover 30 is mounted on the insulative housing 10, covering the upper and lower surfaces and the front surface thereof, the through holes 36 of the shield cover 30 meet the insertion opening 11a of the insulative housing 10.

  • Patent number: 5904597
Abstract: A surface-contact connector comprises a plurality of terminals 50 and a housing 11. The terminals 50 are made of an electrically conductive, resilient material and are formed in an identical shape. These terminals 50 are retained in the housing 11 in a row. Each terminal 50 includes an anchoring portion 51, an resilient portion 54, and a contacting portion 55. The anchoring portion 51 is fixedly retained in the housing 11, and the resilient portion 54, which is capable of elastic deformation, extends from the anchoring portion 51. The contacting portion 55 is continuous from a front end of the resilient portion 54 to protrude in the direction of engagement with a part to be electrically connected to. The housing 11 is provided with protrusion-regulating portions 16 and 17 which meet with the resilient portions 54 or contacting portions 55 of the terminals to regulate the amounts of protrusion of the contacting portions 55 in the direction of the engagement.

  • Patent number: 5647749
Abstract: A right angled header connector assembly including a main housing having a circuit board connecting face from which respective circuit board connecting portions protrude horizontally rearward and forward therefrom for reflow soldering to the circuit board and a transverse mating face. A subhousing is releasably attachable to the main housing to extend forward at the mating face surrounding the mating portions of the contact elements and in adjacent covering relation to the forward protruding circuit board connecting portions subsequent to the reflow soldering step. Release of the subhousing from the mating face, enables access to the forward protruding circuit board connecting portions for the reflow soldering step, unimpeded by said subhousing.

  • Patent number: 5591036
Abstract: An electrical connector of a right angle header type including a housing with a series of contact members having connecting portions and lead portions at mating and rear faces, respectively, the lead portions being bent through 90 degrees forming medial portions extending rearward from the rear face and board connecting portions extending downward so that free ends of the board connecting portions are insertable into respective connecting through-holes of a circuit board. A lead portion retaining member having lead portion locating groves on a lower face is releasably attached to the housing to extend over the medial portions to prevent upward movement thereof during insertion of the end portions into the respective connecting through-holes, thereby obviating risk of misjudgement that the connector is correctly installed on the circuit board.

  • Patent number: 5516297
Abstract: A surface mount electrical connector having lead portions of first and second series of terminals extending in alternating closely spaced parallel relation across a circuit board from a rear face of a connector housing. The lead portions have transverse soldering portions on respective free ends and the lead porions of the second series are longer than those of the first series and the lead portion of each series are of equal length so that the soldering portions of the first and second series are located in first and second rows with the first row being closer to the housing than the second row. The soldering potions of the first row have respective upstanding heater engaging portions so that the heater can be brought into engagement therewith without interfering with adjacent lead portions or with soldering portions of the other row.
