  • Publication number: 20060225073
Abstract: Provided is a computer system in which a plurality of virtual machines operate on a host computer. The host computer has a time subtraction table for storing the time subtraction with the respective virtual machines, and a log collection unit for collecting the logs of the respective virtual machines. The log contains a time stamp which shows at least the log output time. The log collection unit corrects the time stamp of the logs collected from the respective virtual machines based on the time subtraction stored in the time subtraction table. According to this computer system, the logs of the virtual machines operating in a time series that is different from the time series of the host computer can be collected upon integrating the time series of the virtual machines and the host computer.

  • Publication number: 20060206747
Abstract: A data intermediate server 300 comprises the functions of reading data stored in storage servers ST1 through ST3 and sending the data to a media server 600 according to backup commands received from a backup control device 400 over a local area network LAN4. The data intermediate server 300 and the storage servers ST1 through ST3 are connected by channels that do not permit Internet protocol traffic but only data targeted for backup and control data assigned thereto. As a result, client data stored on the storage servers can be properly backed up while preventing data from being improperly retrieved or leaked.

  • Publication number: 20060190558
Abstract: When the system administrator, using an management terminal 600, changes the settings of a storage device 200, a log concentration device 400 is notified of the settings. These settings include the IP address of peripheral servers 300. On the basis of the IP address of the peripheral servers 300 of which it is notified by the storage device 200, the log concentration device 400 changes the log concentration targets. As a result, even if the system configuration of the computer system including the storage device should be modified, the log concentration device can concentrate the appropriate logs from the servers.

  • Patent number: 7085954
Abstract: A storage system according to an embodiment of the present invention has a storage and a controller. The storage has an interface for connecting it to a storage of another storage system via a communication line, and a remote copy module transferring predetermined data to the another storage system, not via the controller, based on a data transfer command from the controller. The controller has a remote copy control module transmitting to the remote copy module, at reception of a notification of account attribute movement from an account monitor module monitoring the account attribute movement, a data transfer command for transferring predetermined data to the other storage system, not via the controller.

  • Publication number: 20060074943
Abstract: The server SV1 receives instructions to acquire snapshot images from control server 20, acquires the snapshot images of logic disk 110, and stores them in logic disk 130, and at the same time acquires snapshot images of logic disk 120, and stores them in logic disk 140. The server SV1 constructs a virtual file server environment using snapshot images of system files stored in logic disk 130, and provides data file snapshot images stored in logic disk 140 to the client CL.

  • Publication number: 20060036716
Abstract: A technology is provided, with which any add-on computer becomes able to automatically acquire setting information without using a distribution server or a shared disk. A computer system is provided with: a plurality of computers for network connection; a second network connected with the computers; and an add-on computer connected to both a first network and the second network. The add-on computer is any one of the computers connected to the second network, and acquires setting information from any computer connected also to the first network for setting to itself.

  • Publication number: 20060007491
Abstract: A storage system connected to a network is provided which is capable of managing other devices connected to the network. A storage system (400) is connected via a switch (200) to a network (500) to provide clients (100) with data. The storage system has a control unit which sets the switch (200) and a setting command preserving unit which keeps a command for setting the switch (200). The control unit uses the preserved command to set the switch (200).

  • Publication number: 20050256898
Abstract: When a file server migrates from an existing file server to a new file server, data is allowed to migrate and setting information for a file system can migrate, too. At this time, data migration timing can be arbitrarily designated while a file sharing service is executed without stop and while securing system performance. A file migration program of the new file server is connected in a block level to a volume of the existing file server to acquire file sharing configuration and volume setting information of the existing file server. During the migration of the file server, a file read/write request from the file sharing access program of the host computer is executed for the volume through the block access program of the existing file server on the basis of file sharing configuration and volume setting information of the existing file server so acquired.

  • Publication number: 20050120279
Abstract: In a storage subsystem which is connected to an IP network, by excluding an improper packet, security is heightened, and a performance of communication to a logical unit of a storage subsystem is maintained and secured. In the storage subsystem according to one embodiment, a function which carries out filtering of a packet other than an iSCSI packet is provided. With respect to only the packet passed through the function, its accessibility to the logical unit is filtered. Also, traffic of all received packets, and traffic of each packet sorted out by the two filtering functions are measured, and a traffic log of a packet judged to be discarded by the above filtering is recorded. By using this information, controlling such as a cut-off process of improper communication, QoS securement for normal communication and so on, are carried out.

  • Publication number: 20040210791
Abstract: In case a fault has occurred in a volume, it was so far difficult to correctly notify a fault by using a host computer which can access the volumes managed by a management computer that integrally manages a plurality of devices constituting a network. The management program of the invention is executed by the management computer connected to computers and to a plurality of storage devices for managing the volumes connected to the computers through a SAN (storage area network). The management program executes a procedure for receiving a notice of fault in the volume from the storage devices, a procedure for receiving volume access control information from a plurality of storage devices for specifying the computers that can access the volumes, and a procedure for notifying the fault in the volume to the computers that are permitted to access the volumes based on the volume access control information.
