  • Patent number: 5091674
Abstract: A gas discharge lamp having an accurate centering of electrodes. The gas discharge lamp has a gas-filled glass tube whereby the electrodes are inserted at end faces of the glass tube. Each electrode is melted into respectively a hollow-cylinder-type glass member residing inside an end of the glass tube. The outside end face of each glass member lies approximately flush with the corresponding end face of the glass tube and is coated, together with the end face of the glass tube, with a layer of glass solder.

  • Patent number: 4987341
Abstract: A flash lamp which has two electrodes of refractory metal fused into a glass housing. In order to enable a soft-soldered connection, the outer end of the electrodes is respectively connected to a soft-solderable metal coating.

  • Patent number: 4827189
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a improved gas discharge lamp particularly for use as flash bulbs or lamps, wherein two tungsten electrodes are fused into a glass tube. In order for the lead to be soldered to an outer end of each of the tungsten electrodes with a soft solder, the outer ends of the electrodes are provided with a coating of a refractory solder, such as a hard solder or brazing compound. The coating, which has a melting point approximately at the point of fusion for the glass tube, can be applied during the step of fusing the electrodes into the glass tube.

  • Patent number: 4739221
Abstract: The invention is directed to a gas discharge lamp particularly to a flash bulb and a method of making the flash bulb. The cathode member is formed by a sintered member whose outer shape is matched to the inside shape of the cavity of the housing in the cathode region and this sintered member is fused in the housing to form the connection with the lead of the cathode.

  • Patent number: 4203050
Abstract: A gas discharge lamp, particularly useful as a flash tube, has a glass tube and electrode feed-through conductors which are connected with the glass tube in gas-tight relationship via glass members and glass solder. The glass members consist of prefabricated shaped parts having a geometry which absorbs thermal stresses between the glass members and the glass tube.

  • Patent number: 3993925
Abstract: An electron beam collector for transit time tubes, in particular traveling wave tubes, includes a plurality of metallic electrodes which surround the electron beam and which are spaced from one another by insulating bodies. The spacing components are firmly and preferably directly connected to the electrodes which they serve to space. The electrodes are, in each case, embraced by a sleeve which has a thermal coefficient expansion that is small in comparison to the electrodes and matched to that of the spacing components.

  • Patent number: 3936779
Abstract: A microwave window of dielectric material having a rectangular shape is received in a hollow, rectangular cross-section conductor with a multi-piece metal bandage positioned around a portion of the conductor and retaining the window in place, the bandage being soldered in place.
