  • Publication number: 20220351952
Abstract: A magnetron plasma sputtering arrangement including an evacuable chamber, wherein in the evacuable chamber a tuning electrode, operatively connected to a biasing source with respect to ground, and including an aperture defining at least one axis of length, is arranged in a flow path for plasma between a sputtering head and a substrate. A plasma sputtered material originating at a sputtering target will traverse the aperture before depositing onto the surface of the substrate as a thin film.

  • Patent number: 9318297
Abstract: An apparatus and methods are disclosed for ion beam extraction. In an implementation, the apparatus includes a plasma source (or plasma) and an ion extractor. The plasma source is adapted to generate ions and the ion extractor is immersed in the plasma source to extract a fraction of the generated ions. The ion extractor is surrounded by a space charge formed at least in part by the extracted ions. The ion extractor includes a biased electrode forming an interface with an insulator. The interface is customized to form a strongly curved potential distribution in the space-charge surrounding the ion extractor. The strongly curved potential distribution focuses the extracted ions towards an opening on a surface of the biased electrode thereby resulting in anion beam.

  • Publication number: 20140287341
Abstract: A novel modified anode/electrolyte structure for a solid oxide electrochemical cell is an assembly comprising (a) an anode consisting of a backbone of electronically conductive perovskite oxides selected from the group of doped strontium titanates and mixtures thereof, (b) a scandia and yttria-stabilised zirconium oxide electrolyte and (c) a metallic and/or a ceramic electrocatalyst in the shape of interlayers incorporated in the interface between the anode and the electrolyte. This assembly is first sintered at a given temperature and then at a lower temperature in reducing gas mixtures. These heat treatments resulted in a distribution of the metallic and/or ceramic interlayers in the electrolyte/anode backbone junction taking place.
