  • Publication number: 20140155719
Abstract: A glucose measuring system includes a glucose meter that incorporates wireless communication capabilities. The meter can advantageously be a low cost meter by eliminating expensive components, such as the display. The user nevertheless is able to retrieve and view his or her glucose values by referring to displays within the glucose measuring local area network. Feedback via these displays can advantageously be used by the diabetic to create a higher level of confidence and safety.

  • Patent number: 8306170
Abstract: A method of decoding a bit stream having an embedded clock, where the clock reference data is recovered from the bit stream. The clock reference data is used to create an adjusting value to control a local clock frequency. The adjustment is calculated such that the local clock frequency and the local clock value match the frequency and values in the clock reference data. The adjustment value is input to pulse generator to form a pulse train, which is used to generate the input to an adjustable oscillator.

  • Publication number: 20070086875
Abstract: Apparatus and method of increasing adhesion of thermal binder strips to coated papers by conditioning an edge of the sheet by splitting the edge which results in an expansion of the edge followed by compressing the edge so as to reduce or eliminate the expansion. In the case of a stack of sheets, the edge of the stack is conditioned by piercing the edge of the stack and in the case of an individual sheet, the conditioning is carried out by splitting at least a portion of the edge of the sheet.

  • Publication number: 20050173856
Abstract: Apparatus for conditioning an edge of a stack of sheets to be bound so that sheets having coated surfaces and the like can be reliably bound. The apparatus includes a stack clamping mechanism configured to secure the stack of sheets and a piercing member configured to produce a piercing action substantially in a piercing plane. Also provided is a positioning mechanism configured to control relative movement of the stack clamping mechanism and the piercing mechanism so that the sheets of the stack pass through the piercing plane, with the drive mechanism being configured to drive the piercing member into the edge of the stack at least once for each sheet of the stack passing through the piercing plane.

  • Publication number: 20050064147
Abstract: An adhesive binder strip having reduced transverse curl and method of manufacture. An elongated substrate is provided and a layer of molten, heat-activated adhesive is applied over the substrate surface. The layer of molten adhesive is permitted to cool so that the layer is in a solid state. The surface of the cooled adhesive is then mechanically deformed such as by cutting a multiplicity of grooves in the surface. The number and depth of the grooves are selected so as to achieve a substantial reduction in the amount of curl present in the binder strip. Once the mechanical deformations have been made, the binder strip can be used to bind a stack of sheets.
