  • Patent number: 6233414
Abstract: Status information control methods and status information control systems allow operators to define the criteria that provides a “ready” indication for an image forming device. An operator determines a number of required features for an output job. The control systems then monitor a selected image forming device to determine if the selected image forming device has all of the required features and if all the required features are available. If the selected image forming device has all the required features and if they are available, a “ready” status is indicated, otherwise a “not ready” status is indicate .Alternatively, the status confirmation control methods and systems allow operators to track an output job by displaying detailed information about an image form device's features and each feature's availability.

  • Patent number: 5027536
Abstract: A snowplow mounting apparatus for use on trucks and the like is provided in which a pair of clam-shell plates are mounted on the front of the truck in place of the usual bumper. The plates are pivotally joined together at the top. The removed bumper is mounted on the outer plate of the clam-shell and the actuating hydraulic cylinder is mounted within the clam-shell where it is fully protected. The plow blade is mounted on the outer clam-shell with a quick disconnect feature and a pair of cam surfaces is mounted on the inside of the clam-shell plates. The hydraulic cylinder through cam followers cooperatively engaging said cam surfaces force the plates apart about the pivot point of the clam-shell which raises the plow from engagement with the surface being plowed.

  • Patent number: 4977939
Abstract: A chipper knife blade assembly for a rotary disk chipper has first and second flat knife blades of substantially identical construction, with one of the blades serving as a chipper blade and the other serving as a counterknife supporting the chipper blade. The counterknife is seated on a sloping support surface in a recess in the disk and has its proximal edge reposed against a support or a thrust bar. A bolt-down clamping member has a shouldered surface with a flat portion clamped down against a top surface of the chipper knife blade, and with a shoulder supporting the proximal edge of the chipper blade. In a preferred embodiment, the chipper blade projects about one-half inch to three-quarters inch beyond the cutting edge of the counterknife blade. With this arrangement, a warn cutting blade can serve a second useful life as a counterknife, absorbing the wear that results from the chips moving at high speed into the chip slot.

  • Patent number: 4964447
Abstract: A horizontal disk wood flaking machine has two or more continuous feed conveyors each of which has a vertical chute or feed box that brings wooden logs to an upper surface of the cutting disk. The drive motor for the disk is situated below the disk at the under side of the machine, so that the power train is from the bottom upwards.

  • Patent number: 4887772
Abstract: A knife assembly for a wood chipper has a cassette, a top blade holder, and a trapezoidal cross-section double-edge blade. The cassette is of profiled cross-section, with a full-width proximal section, a stepped-down blade holder support surface on an intermediate section, and a blade support surface on a distal or tip section. A proximally and downward sloping surface extends from a distal edge of the blade holder support surface to the blade support surface. The blade has substantially flat upper and lower surfaces so as to avoid structure which is susceptible to snapping or splitting under the stresses normally encountered in a chipping operation. One edge of the trapezoidal blade is exposed and extends forward of the cassette and the blade holder. The tapered ground surface that defines the concealed edge of the blade faces against the sloping surface of the cassette.

  • Patent number: 4268058
Abstract: A coupler for rapidly joining a snowplow unit to a prime mover. A horizontally extended tongue is affixed to the push frame of the plow unit which is insertable into a receiving slot contained in the coupler. The tongue is provided with a pair of contoured camming surfaces that are arranged to translate a prescribed motion to a pair of jaw elements contained in a locking mechanism carried by the coupler. The jaw elements are biased to move in contact with the camming surfaces to first move to a fully opened position to allow the tongue to pass into the coupler and then into closed or locked position wherein the push frame of the plow unit is securely drawn into seated contact against the front wall of the coupler.

A front post is secured to the pusher frame and a rear post is secured to the vehicle frame between the cab and body. Each post includes a vertically disposed rectangular tubular way having a slot along one side and a double acting hydraulic cylinder having its piston rod secured to the bottom end of the way and the lower end of its cylinder secured to the rectangular portion of a pair of spaced plates adapted to slide within the posts. The cylinder has a piston secured to the upper end of a double tubed piston rod, one tube being telescoped within the other and having an annular space therebetween, the central tube extending beyond the other at each end.

  • Patent number: 4031966
Abstract: An operating and shock cylinder assembly for vehicle mounted underbody scraper and grader blades, plows and the like. The assembly of cylinders operates with hydraulic fluid and air, both under pressure, to move the blade or plow between retracted and road engaging positions. It also permits the blade to trip or yield when it engages a fixed obstacle in the road after which the blade quickly returns to its road engaging position. The assembly includes a pair of coacting cylinders which are first charged with air under pressure after which one of the cylinders is charged with hydraulic fluid under pressure. The hydraulic charge forces all of the air into the other cylinder and further compresses it, and this air operates as a powerful spring force or load on a piston in the cylinder that is connected to the pivotally mounted blade. Under this condition, the blade is firmly but yieldably biased into road engaging position.
