  • Patent number: 11942624
Abstract: A battery electrode composition is provided comprising composite particles, with each composite particle comprising active material and a scaffolding matrix. The active material is provided to store and release ions during battery operation. For certain active materials of interest, the storing and releasing of the ions causes a substantial change in volume of the active material. The scaffolding matrix is provided as a porous, electrically-conductive scaffolding matrix within which the active material is disposed. In this way, the scaffolding matrix structurally supports the active material, electrically interconnects the active material, and accommodates the changes in volume of the active material.

  • Patent number: 8875317
Abstract: The present disclosure provides a hat structure comprising a crown and various electronics. The electronics include a speaker located on the crown and defining a direction of sound propagation outwardly from a rear side of the crown. The speaker is configured to play a sound in the direction of sound propagation in response to a user input to a control switch. A hat structure of such a configuration may provide sound more clearly to the environment surrounding a user or wearer of the hat structure.

  • Publication number: 20050022804
Abstract: A cooking heat absorber comprising a radiator assembly for absorbing heat radiated from a cooking surface and from a flue riser, on commercial surface cooking equipment and a tank assembly for holding a fluid and circulating the fluid through the radiator assembly to cool the radiator assembly and warm the fluid. The cooled radiator assembly reduces the amount of radiant heat dispersed from the surface cooking equipment and maintains a more comfortable temperature in a commercial kitchen. The tank assembly includes conduits to supply the warmed fluid, which may be water, to a water heater for reducing the energy requirements of the water heater. The tank assembly circulates a stored quantity of fluid through the radiator assembly, where the fluid is warmed, independent of any use of water from the water heater.

  • Patent number: 4254948
Abstract: A mechanized crutch having vertically adjustable leg rest and body bracket, a wide tread wheel, a drive belt, gearing and a drive wheel are mounted on an elongated leg means. The leg rest and body bracket provide body support. The drive belt, gearing and drive wheel are arranged on the elongated leg means to transmit locomotive power from the drive wheel to the wide tread wheel mounted on the bottom of the elongated leg means. The drive wheel, which may be manual or battery powered, is located within reach of the user's hand on the side of his injured leg. Stabilization is provided by front and rear outrigger tubing having small wheels which roll on the walking surface.

  • Patent number: 4122834
Abstract: A ventilating, cooling, and heat reclaiming system for use with cooking equipment such as commercial ranges and grills whereby grease laden exhaust air passes through a grease filter or extractor and then past a cooling coil through which water is circulated so as to improve grease removal and reclaim heat from exhaust air to heat outdoor supply air. The heated water from the coil is supplied to a further coil disposed in the path of outdoor supply air via a three way valve having two outlets and a mixing valve. The mixing valve varies temperature of water in the further coil to maintain constant the temperature of the supply air and water not supplied to the further coil is supplied to a hot water generator by the three way valve.

  • Patent number: 3980072
Abstract: Ventilating and cooling apparatus for cooking equipment heated by gas, oil, steam or electricity that reclaims radiant heat generated by cooking equipment by heat transfer panels through which cold water is circulated and preheated for use in hot water generating system or other system which can make use of preheated water. Heat transfer panels are positioned between the back edge of the canopy and the top of the cooking equipment and on the interior face of the canopy to collect radiant heat emitted directly and indirectly from the cooking equipment surfaces. An air passage behind the back panels serves to preheat incoming ventilation make-up air which is directed down, under and up along the front of the cooking equipment forming an air curtain and extracting heat from the body of the cooking equipment that is otherwise radiated to cooler bodies in close proximity to the heating surface.
