  • Patent number: 7992113
Abstract: An apparatus and methods for the production of satisfiability reports are provided. In an exemplary embodiment, a method of producing a report is provided. The method includes generating a complete assignment for a CNF formula, deriving first second sets of clauses that are unsatisfied by the reference point, making decision assignments, performing BCP then recomputing the second set of clauses. One feature of this embodiment is that it provides for efficient solutions for SAT problems. Other embodiments provide apparatus and software products that implement the disclosed methods. This Abstract is provided for the sole purpose of complying with the Abstract requirement rules that allow a reader to quickly ascertain the subject matter of the disclosure contained herein. This Abstract is submitted with the explicit understanding that it will not be used to interpret or to limit the scope or the meaning of the claims.

  • Publication number: 20080076851
Abstract: An improved method for modifying the surface of an article, the surface adapted for contact with living tissue of a human or non-human animal, by the gamma- or electron beam-irradiation induced polymerized, chemically grafted coating thereon of a hydrophilic monomer to form a hydrophilic graft polymer coating of the polymerized monomer or mixture of monomers, the improvement comprising conducting the gamma- or electron beam-irradiation induced graft polymerization in an aqueous solution containing a hydrophilic polymer under conditions whereby the hydrophilic polymer is at least partially entrapped in the graft polymerized coating.

  • Publication number: 20060194911
Abstract: A mixture comprising (1) a cross-linkable thermosetting resin, excluding phenol and unsaturated polyester resins, providing composition and intimately admixed therewith, (2) from about 1.0% to about 8%, by weight, based on the weight of the mixture, of a fluorocarbon additive which is substantially non-chemically reactive with the thermoset resin selected from the group consisting of a fluorocarbon oil, a fluorocarbon gum, a fluorocarbon grease and mixtures thereof, the fluorocarbon additive having a lower surface energy than that of the thermoset resin formed by cross-linking the composition.

  • Publication number: 20050079365
Abstract: Disclosed is a method for modifying the surface properties of a silicone or siloxane-based polymer or copolymer substrate comprising, (1) exposing the surface to a basic aqueous resolution comprising a substance capable of graft-polymerization with the silicone or siloxane-based polymer or copolymer substrate, the aqueous solution having a pH above about 8.0, the exposure to the basic aqueous solution being for a time sufficient to enhance the graft-polymerization and (2) subjecting the surface and basic solution to conditions whereby the polymerizable substance is polymerized to form a graft-polymerized coating on the surface. Also disclosed are compositions of matter prepared by the above-described process as well as articles manufactured therefrom.

  • Publication number: 20050043789
Abstract: A device comprising a substrate having a surface for contacting blood wherein the surface has a continuum of thrombus-resistant polymeric material coated on and extending into the substrate to anchor the coating thereon. The device may be prepared by a method comprising: (a) contacting the substrate with a solution of monomer or oligomer in a solvent to wet the surface and impregnate the substrate below the surface to a substantial depth; (b) removing the solvent to form a continuum of the monomer or oligomer on the surface and within the substrate to a substantial depth; and (c) polymerizing the monomer or oligomer to form a substantial continuum of polymer coating on the surface and extending to a substantial depth in the substrate, thereby firmly anchoring the polymer coating on the surface.
