  • Patent number: 4389869
Abstract: A sheet material bending brake of enhanced clamping and bending capacity, by virtue of reinforcing members which both limit the extent of insertion of sheet material into the brake and which support the brake against distortion under heavy clamping and bending loads. The brake includes a plurality of parallel "C" castings extending normally to a bending plane, the castings having clamping and bending means located at their cantilevered ends. Adjustable reinforcing elements engage horizontal surfaces of the castings and project across the throats of the castings to retain the casting legs against separation under excess clamping and bending loads imposed thereon and to limit the distance to which the sheet material can be inserted into the castings.

  • Patent number: 4291845
Abstract: A holding device or "cradle" for holding a coil of sheet material so that the material can be unrolled from the coil and cut to length. The cradle takes the form of an open-topped tray having side walls and an end wall, the side walls supporting two horizontally disposed rollers upon which the coil is super-imposed. A third roller projects through the annular coil and is spring biased into contact with the interior of the coil to retain the coil in position. The unrolled sheet material is guided by the curved bottom onto a scoring or cutting bed which has spaced, parallel non-marring surfaces which are raised above the surface of the bed to define a cutting space therebetween. An upper score guide is moveable away from the scoring bed to accommodate the entry of sheet material therebetween and is moveable downwardly into contact with the sheet material to clamp the sheet material in position for cutting and to provide an elongated cutting edge which is aligned with the space between the non-marring surfaces.

  • Patent number: 4245534
Abstract: A sheet metal slitter of the type having a pair of parallel shafts journalled at spaced axial points and a slitter roll on each shaft, the rolls cooperatively defining a cutting nip. The invention resides in a bearing assembly with bearings cantilevered from a support element. The bearings are positioned, respectively, adjacent the pair of slitter rolls on the shafts to resist forces tending to separate the shafts during metal cutting. The support element is slotted to accommodate the cut portions of the workpiece without spreading or tearing and with substantially no bending.

  • Patent number: 3955456
Abstract: A portable saw table of extensible working length for cutting workpieces at various angles relative to the longitudinal axis of the workpiece, including an elongated main deck having an upper support surface and a boom support element projecting upwardly from said support surface. The main deck has front and rear parallel longitudinal edges, and at least one elongated top deck telescopically engages the parallel longitudinal edges of the main deck, this top deck having an upper work supporting surface above the upper support surface of the main deck. A saw supporting boom is pivotally mounted on the boom support element, the boom having a work-supporting surface supported at the level of the work-supporting surface of the top deck by integral downwardly depending flanges contacting the main deck.
