    Abstract: A stable thickened bleach containing composition consisting of an aqueous alkali metal hypochlorite, an alkali metal hydroxide and a thickening additive composed of at least one of following classes of an anionic surfactants: (A) alkali metal salts of N-alkyl, N-acyl amino acids, and (B) alkali metal salts of alkyl sulfates and mixtures thereof. The thickened compositions have viscosities of at least 5 centipoises and remain stable without phase separation and maintain their viscosity and hypochlorite concentration for extended periods.
