  • Patent number: 4284727
Abstract: Process for treating anion exchange resins containing a major portion of weak-base groups in catalytically inactive salt form and a minor portion of strong-base groups in catalytically inactive salt form wherein the resin is contacted with an aqueous solution containing ammonium hydroxide and ammonium chloride.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 28, 1979
Date of Patent: August 18, 1981
    Assignee: Union Carbide Corporation
Inventors: Eugene J. Boros, David W. Peck
  • Patent number: 4278807
Abstract: Process for producing a 1-naphthyl carbamate by reacting 1-naphthyl with methyl isocyanate utilizing an anion exchange resin catalyst treated to convert weak-base groups to their catalytically active free amine form while maintaining any strong-base groups in their catalytically inactive salt form.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 28, 1979
Date of Patent: July 14, 1981
    Assignee: Union Carbide Corporation
Inventors: Eugene J. Boros, David W. Peck
  • Patent number: 4110415
Abstract: Novel polymethylol polyphosphonates are prepared by reacting a trisubstituted polyphosphite having at least one alkyl group and formaldehyde. The phosphite reactant may contain the requisite hydroxyl functionality [e.g. - heptakis (dipropylene glycol) triphosphite] or the hydroxyl functionality may be introduced by carrying out the reaction in the presence of a polyol, e.g. - glycerol, as a protic solvent. The resulting reaction product is a water-soluble liquid of relatively low viscosity and may be employed without any refining. The thus-formed polyphosphonates can be readily incorporated into either rigid urethane foam formulations to impart flame retardancy or phenolic resins to improve flexibility.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: August 29, 1978
