  • Patent number: 5919549
Abstract: Abrasive articles and a method for the manufacture of the articles are described. The articles comprise a backing having a first major surface and a second major surface; a first resin layer comprising a first hardened resin, the first resin layer extending over the first major surface of the backing; abrasive particles adhered within the first resin layer; a second resin layer applied over the first resin layer, the second resin layer comprising a second hardened resin; and a lofty, three dimensional, nonwoven web of fibers bonded to one another at their mutual contact points and extending through the first and second resin layers. The dry coating weights of the first and second hardened resins are about 400 g/m.sup.2 or greater and preferably greater than about 600 g/m.sup.2.

  • Patent number: 5492550
Abstract: Surface treating articles having varying degree of smear-resistance and their methods of manufacture are presented. One preferred article is characterized by an organic matrix substantially engulfed by a novel, tough, adherent elastomeric resinous binder system comprising a reaction product of either selected from(1) a polyurethane prepolymer with an amine curative,(2) a polyurethane prepolymer emulsion with an epoxy-functional material and an amine functional material, and(3) a polyurethane polymer emulsion with an epoxy-functional material and an amine-functional material in an aqueous system.

  • Patent number: 5138788
Abstract: The fishing line casting assist device comprises a body releasably mountable on the handle of a fishing rod, a rotatable line retaining member rotatably journaled in said body and having a weight coupled thereto for creating a retaining force for maintaining a fishing line trained over said line retaining member until the fishing rod is cast whereupon the casting force causes the retaining member to move to a non-line retaining position where the fishing line is free to flow out of a reel mounted on the fishing rod.

  • Patent number: 4981165
Abstract: An overhead door mechanism with torsion type counterbalance springs includes a spring adjustment device comprising a housing suitable for attachment to a horizontal shaft and a gearing mechanism that allows angular adjustment of the attached end of the spring relative to the shaft. The gearing mechanism includes a toothed ring gear member adapted for connection to the spring and rotatably mounted in the housing. A threaded worm is also mounted in the housing so that it engages the teeth of the toothed member. Rotation of the threaded worm induces a corresponding rotation of the toothed member. The rotation, when conveyed to one end of a spring that is fixed at its other end causes the spring torsion to be altered without releasing the spring from retention by the adjustment mechanism.

  • Patent number: 4669163
Abstract: Acid- and caustic- resistant rolls are prepared by forming a nonwoven web of randomly laid entangled polyolefin fibers, stacking a multiplicity of segments of the web into a pile, compacting the pile under a compaction force equivalent to a room temperature compaction force of about 20.times.10.sup.5 to 55.times.10.sup.5 Pa, restraining the pile on its compacted configuration, and, if needed, dressing the sides of the compacted pile to form a smooth cylindrical surface. The preferred polyolefin fibers are formed of polyethylene, polypropylene or polybutylene.

  • Patent number: 3950032
Abstract: A wedge-shaped split ring is interposed between the rim and hub of a heavy vehicle wheel to prevent the rim and hub from separating during use and maintain a predetermined relationship or proper contact at the yield point between the wheel and hub during extreme torque and weight conditions. Bolts are provided for axially tensioning the split ring relative to a cam surface to the required radial support and contact. The mounting is designed primarily for extremely heavy duty earth moving equipment and the like. The split ring is expanded or contracted by adjustably tensioning bolts to distribute the weight of the vehicle upon the hub.
