  • Patent number: 10316645
Abstract: A technique includes deploying an untethered object though a passageway of a tubular member; and acquiring a plurality of measurements that represent an environment of the tubular member as the object is being communicated through the passageway. The technique includes cross-correlating the plurality of measurements and using results of the cross-correlating to identify at least one feature of the tubular member.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 16, 2014
Date of Patent: June 11, 2019
    Assignee: SCHLUMBERGER TECHNOLOGY CORPORATION
    Inventors: Derek Ingraham, Eugene Janssen
  • Patent number: 10185051
Abstract: A method to calibrate a nuclear magnetic resonance tool is disclosed having steps of starting a nuclear magnetic resonance sequence from the nuclear magnetic resonance tool, disabling an active damping circuit in the nuclear magnetic resonance tool, collecting auxiliary calibration data for the nuclear magnetic resonance tool, estimating a natural Q value for the nuclear magnetic resonance tool, determining an optimal active damping setting for the tool, deploying the optimal active damping setting for the tool, collecting nuclear magnetic resonance response data generated from the nuclear magnetic resonance sequence and calibrating the nuclear magnetic resonance data.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 29, 2016
Date of Patent: January 22, 2019
    Assignee: SCHLUMBERGER TECHNOLOGY CORPORATION
Inventors: Diogenes David Molina, Eugene Janssen, Krishnamurthy Ganesan, Nicholas Heaton, Vassilis Varveropoulos
  • Patent number: 10151175
Abstract: A remotely deployed untethered device for actuation of a downhole application. The device may be equipped with inductive measurement capacity for interaction with a downhole well architecture. Such capacity affords the ability to trigger an actuation remotely at a site specific location in the well without further intervention relative surface equipment.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 15, 2013
Date of Patent: December 11, 2018

  • Publication number: 20080023229
Abstract: An actuator to direct a downhole drilling tool includes a stator and an armature configured to be electromagnetically displaced into one of three stable positions. A cavity within the stator is in communication with a high-pressure fluid and hydraulic ports in the stator allow the high-pressure fluid to communicate with low-pressure regions. Plungers on the armature selectively block either or none of the hydraulic ports, allowing for three control options from the actuator to the downhole drilling tool.
