  • Patent number: 9311060
Abstract: A web development, application development, or other tool can be enhanced by configuring the tool to support an overlay for defining a plurality of regions (i.e. slices) simultaneously. Embodiments include providing, via a computing apparatus, a graphical user interface comprising an overlay over the area of a visual element, the graphical user interface configured to define from one to nine adjustable slices, with each slice corresponding to a respective region or component of the visual element. The method can comprise associating a default repetition behavior with each slice based on its relative position in the overlay and receiving input via the overly and adjusting a characteristic of at least one slice, the adjusted characteristic comprising a size or position of the slice. The default and/or adjusted characteristics can be used to generate HTML, CSS, and/or other code for providing the desired scaling behavior for the visual component.

  • Patent number: 8438495
Abstract: A design application can provide a mechanism for quickly and intuitively designing wireframes by automatically generating containers and margins. For example, a graphical user interface can be provided in which a parent container is defined and surrounded by a boundary (“wirebox”), which may (or may not) include margins defined between the wirebox and container perimeter. Responsive to input data representing a user gesture, such as clicking and dragging at a wirebox boundary, the parent container can be divided into two or more containers. In some embodiments a tree structure with memory locations (e.g., folders) corresponding to the containers can be defined alongside and in response to definition of containers in the wireframe.

  • Patent number: 8081197
Abstract: Various embodiments of a system and method for angular image selection are described. Embodiments may include a graphics application that may receive input indicating a first displacement of a control from a first location of an image to a second location of the image. The angle of the first displacement may be non-zero with respect to horizontal and vertical axes of the display. The graphics application may receive input indicating a second displacement (perpendicular to the first displacement) of the control from the second location to a third location of the image. The graphics application may generate a rectangular selection area on the image such that two sides of the rectangular selection area are parallel to the first displacement and two other sides of the rectangular selection area are parallel to the second displacement. The graphics application may perform an image editing function on the selected portion of the image.

  • Publication number: 20080007838
Abstract: A field-of-view indicator for use with a viewing device provides a user of the viewing device with a visible indication of a status or event. The viewing device is used by a user to view an image of a scene. An indicator mechanism is operable to display an indication to the user in at least a portion of the image. The indicator mechanism is located in a position such that, while viewing the image of the scene with the viewing device, the user does not view an image of the indicator mechanism. When not activated, the indicator mechanism does not block a portion of the user's view of the image of the scene. The indication may be a change in one of color and brightness of the portion of the image. A plurality of indications may be provided using one or more colors, flash rates, duty cycles, and intensities.
