  • Patent number: 4851260
Abstract: A method of producing a penetrative binder product for stabilizing absorptive granular material. The binder product comprising a combination of resin asphaltene residuum, paving grade asphalt, and a non-evaporative diluent to yield a penetrative binder which neither pollutes the air or loses significant viscosity during application to the absorptive granular material to be stabilized, the diluent further acting to inhibit the capillary movement of moisture in material underlying the originally penetrated depth.

  • Patent number: 4777064
Abstract: A first method for reducing the penetration of paving grade asphalts. Paving grade asphalt is blended with a solvent extracted resin-asphaltene residuum in the proportions of approximately 75% to 25% by weight, respectively, to yield penetration of 25 or less of the resulting mixture.A second method of applying the reduced penetration asphaltic product mixture, obtained by the first method, to a granular surface. The asphaltic mixture is first diluted with an evaporative diluent and then spread over a granular surface so as to penetrate into and stabilize the underlying granular material.

  • Patent number: 4373961
Abstract: This is a process and composition related to recycling old asphalt pavements into new pavements. It is accomplished by adding a special asphalt emulsion to the crushed old asphaltic pavement material without requiring the addition of new aggregate or heating. The old material is cemented at the ambient temperature into a new durable composition of high stability and water resistant without rejuvenation, softening or other appreciable change in the old asphalt, such steps being eliminated by selection of the degree of hardness and character of the asphalt base stock in the special emulsion.

Date of Patent: February 15, 1983
    Assignee: Penelizer Corporation

  • Patent number: 4268318
Abstract: An asphalt base stock comprising a solvent refined asphalt having a penetration less than 25 and low ductility mixed with an asphalt cement. The base stock has a low penetration, 25-45, but unexpected high ductility, 150+. The base stock is especially suited for emulsification. When mixed with soils and aggregates, as for road surfaces, the stabilized product exhibits a significant increase in bearing strength over comparable asphalt-emulsion pavements and hot-mix asphalt pavements.
