  • Patent number: 4376193
Abstract: Fully and partially aryl amine terminated polysulfide polymers and processes for their preparation and use are disclosed. The fully aryl amine terminated products are curable with isocyanates to high molecular weight polymers and are thus useful in molding and casting as well as in sealants. The partially aryl amine terminated polymers may be further reacted with polyisocyanates to form thiol terminated polysulfide polymers containing urea chain segments. These compounds are curable in the fashion of standard polysulfide polymers to form firmer polymers. The partially aryl amine terminated polymers may be also chain extended with isocyanate terminated urethane prepolymers. These block copolymers may be cured by standard SH terminated polysulfide polymer cure methods to prepare sealants of exceptional resiliency and weather resistance.

  • Patent number: 4192941
Abstract: Inclusion of an effective amount of substantially anhydrous acetic acid in a zinc oxide cured liquid polysulfide polymer based composition results in a cured composition which is suitable for extrusion under heat and pressure and which on cooling reverts to a rubbery solid with essentially unchanged physical properties. The compositions are useful for the manufacture of sealants and extrudible goods such as hoses.

  • Patent number: 4124645
Abstract: High molecular weight polysulfide polymers are produced by a novel process using polythiodiglycol, polymerizing it with an acid catalyst and with means for removing the water of reaction to make a medium molecular weight halogen-terminated polymer. The resultant halogen-terminated polymer may then be reacted with sodium polysulfide to form a latex dispersion of very high molecular weight. The dispersion may then be converted to --SH terminated polymers by the usual methods.

  • Patent number: 4036882
Abstract: A novel group of amine formal polymers of the general formula: ##STR1## wherein R is hydrogen, --CH.sub.2 R" or ##STR2## R' is hydrogen or --CH.sub.2 R" and R" is hydrogen, alkyl or hydroxyalkyl, n is 1 to 8, m is 0 to 8 and R, R', and R" may be the same or different. The polymers may be prepared by reacting bis(haloethyl)formals with ammonia or primary amines and/or monoalkanolamines in the presence of aqueous alkali.
