  • Patent number: 5675071
Abstract: The present invention is a method for the non-intrusive determination of average particle velocity and average particle mass density from the mass flux and RMS acceleration in a gas/particle transfer line. The method includes the steps of determining the RMS acceleration of the wall of the transfer line at one or more positions along the length of the transfer line, determining the average mass flux through the transfer line, and from both quantities determining the average particle mass density or the average particle velocity from the RMS acceleration and the average mass flux.

  • Patent number: 4412528
Abstract: The present invention comprises a planar window panel, which is in optical contact with heat storage means. The panel includes a fluorescent material for trapping at least a portion of the incident solar radiation and directing it to the heat storage means, whereby a portion of the light is stored in such heat storage means for subsequent use. In a particularly preferred embodiment of the present invention, the heat storage means consists essentially of a phase change material which has a transition temperature generally in the range of 50.degree. F. to 150.degree. F., and preferably in the range of 70.degree. F. to 110.degree. F. In order to utilize the heat stored in the heat storage window at times when the incident solar radiation is relatively low, means are provided to pass a heat exchange fluid in contact with the heat storage means.
