  • Publication number: 20050234145
Abstract: Disclosed is a process for photocuring certain thick layer ethylenically unsaturated systems with a light emitting diode (LED) light source. The thick curable compositions are thick coatings, gel coats, composites and adhesives. The photoinitiator is at least one bisacylphosphine oxide or monoacylphosphine oxide. The process provides for excellent surface cure and through cure.

    Publication date: October 20, 2005
Inventors: Eugene Sitzmann, Donald Wostratzky, Jennifer Jankauskas, Greg Losapio
  • Publication number: 20050209687
Abstract: An artificial vessel scaffold is provided, of biocompatible materials and capable of being coated with selected cell types. A plurality of artificial organs are provided, formed of a biocompatible scaffold material and coated with selected cell types.
    Type: Application
    Filed: February 19, 2003
    Publication date: September 22, 2005
    Applicant: Bioartis, Inc.
    Inventors: James Sitzmann, Eugene Sitzmann
  • Publication number: 20050197417
Abstract: Optical fiber coating compositions which comprise at least one ethylenically unsaturated polymerizable compound and a photoinitiator blend, wherein the blend comprises (a) bis(2,4,6-trimethylbenzoyl)phenylphosphine oxide and (b) 2,4,6,-trimethylbenzoylethoxyphenylphosphine oxide in an (a):(b) weight:weight ratio of between about 1:10 and about 1:8; or (c) bis(2,4,6-trimethylbenzoyl)phenylphosphine oxide, (d) 2,4,6,-trimethylbenzoylethoxyphenylphosphine oxide and (e) 2-hydroxy-2-methyl-1-phenyl-1-propanone in a (c):(d):(e) weight:weight:weight ratio between about 3:1:14 and about 4:1:16; or (f) bis(2,4,6-trimethylbenzoyl)phenylphosphine oxide and (g) 2-hydroxy-2-methyl-1-phenyl-1-propanone in a (f):(g) weight:weight ratio of between about 1:3 and about 1:5 exhibit fast photospeed, very low color and fast photobleaching. The photoinitiator blends have low volatility, high shelf life stability and high compatibility with resins and monomers. The photoinitiator blends are for example liquid and easy to use.

  • Publication number: 20050123691
Abstract: Photo-cureable coating formulations which comprise a durable and/or red-shifted hydroxyphenylbenzotriazole ultraviolet light absorber (UVA) are effectively photocured employing a combination of ?-hydroxy ketone and bisacylphosphine oxide photoinitiators. The combination of the photoinitiators bis(2,4,6-trimethylbenzoyl)phenylphosphine oxide and 1-hydroxycyclohexylphenylketone is especially effective for this purpose.
    Type: Application

  • Publication number: 20050004294
Abstract: Polymer compositions comprising a polymeric substrate and an effective stabilizing amount of a synergistic mixture of a nano-scaled filler and at least one additive selected from the group consisting of the hindered amine light stabilizers are effectively stabilized against the deleterious effects of oxidative, thermal or light-induced degradation.

  • Publication number: 20040235975
Abstract: Photo-curable coating formulations which comprise a durable and/or red-shifted reactable hydroxyphenylbenzotriazole ultraviolet light absorber (UVA) are effectively photocured employing a combination of &agr;-hydroxy ketone and bisacylphosphine oxide photoinitiators. The reactable UVA's are reacted into the coating upon curing. The combination of the photoinitiators bis(2,4,6-trimethylbenzoyl)phenylphosphine oxide and 1-hydroxycyclohexylphenylketone is especially effective for this purpose.
