  • Publication number: 20080087191
Abstract: The present invention relates to dispersions comprising particulate materials and a solvent, with an optional dispersant. The solvent has a low dielectric constant, and the particulate material is present at high loading levels. The resulting dispersion has been found to be stable and have a low viscosity, even at high particulate material loadings. Various uses for these dispersions are also disclosed.
    Type: Application
    Filed: May 16, 2007
    Publication date: April 17, 2008

  • Publication number: 20070060664
Abstract: The present invention describes modified pigment products comprising a pigment having attached at least one photopolymerizable group and at least one ionic or ionizable group. Dispersions, black matrixes, and resin compositions comprising these modified pigment products are also disclosed.
    Type: Application

  • Publication number: 20070044682
Abstract: A process for preparing a modified pigment having attached at least one organic group is described. This process comprises the step of combining, in any order, a colored pigment, an aromatic amine, a base, and an aqueous medium to form a mixture, and then combining the mixture and a diazotizing agent to form the modified pigment. The aromatic amine comprises at least two carboxylic acid groups, preferably being vicinal. The resulting modified colored pigment can be used in an inkjet ink composition to produce printed images having good overall properties.
    Type: Application

    Publication date: March 1, 2007
    Inventors: Robert Nick, Eugene Step
  • Publication number: 20060172212
Abstract: The present invention relates to toner compositions comprising a resin and a colorant. Various embodiments of the colorant used in the toner compositions are disclosed, including a modified pigment comprising a pigment having attached at least one organic group having the formula —X—I, wherein X, which is directly attached to the pigment, represents an arylene or heteroarylene group, or an alkylene group, and I represents a non-polymeric group comprising at least one ionic group or at least one ionizable group. Processes for preparing toner compositions are also described.

  • Publication number: 20060084751
Abstract: The present invention relates to a black matrix formed by applying a curable coating composition onto a substrate to form a curable coating, curing the curable coating imagewise to form a coating, and developing and drying the coating. The curable coating composition comprises a vehicle, a curable resin, and at least one modified pigment comprising a pigment having attached at least one organic group having the formula —X—I or —X—NI, wherein X, which is directly attached to the pigment, represents an arylene or heteroarylene group, an alkylene group, an aralkylene group, or an alkarylene group, I represents a non-polymeric group comprising at least one ionic group or at least one ionizable group, and NI represents a non-polymeric group comprising at least one nonionic group. The curable coating composition, curable coating, and cured coating are also described. Also disclosed is a method of controlling the resistivity of a coating.
