    Abstract: Antibacterial and germicidal detergent compositions containing biologically active S-(1,2-dialkoxycarbonylethyl)dialkyldithiocarbamates of the formula: ##EQU1## where R and R' represent lower alkyl groups. The compositions unexpectedly posssess effective skin substantivity so that soap and shampoo formulations, as well as cosmetic and toilet preparations retaining bacteriostatic and germicidal activity even after washing and rinsing of the skin are obtained.
