  • Patent number: 4266933
Abstract: A rotary dental polishing apparatus which utilizes a rotatably cylindrical cartridge for containing polishing paste therein. One end of the cartridge is provided with a polishing cup, the cavity of which is in communication with the interior of the cartridge to receive paste therefrom. The cartridge also comprises a wiper conveyer mechanism which is in communication with the outer end of the cartridge at the end opposite the cup and is prevented from rotating which results in the conveyer mechanism continuously urging the paste out of the cartridge into the cup. The cartridge may be configured to rotate at a right angle to the drive source.

  • Patent number: 4259071
Abstract: A dental polishing cup for use with a rotary dental hand piece. The cup has a truncated conical shaped body member with a similar truncated conical shaped cavity in the large open end thereof, the opposite smaller end of the cup being attachable to the rotary hand piece. The inside wall of the cavity is provided with spiral ridges or grooves, the direction of the spiral being such that when the cup containing polishing compound is pressed against the teeth and rotated, the spirals will tend to force the compound inwardly toward the center of the cup.

  • Patent number: 4138816
Abstract: A dental handpiece comprising a power source, plugger means, and a disposable cartridge assembly removably engagable with the power source, said plugger means being carried by the power source and selectively movable with respect to the cartridge for passing therethrough in a reciprocal movement, said cartridge including a housing preloaded with selected quantities of mercury and silver, or the like, in separate sealed compartments, and means extending through the housing and engagable with the power source for longitudinal and rotatable movement with respect to the housing, said longitudinal movement causing a combining of the initially separated mercury and silver components, said rotatable movement causing both mixing of the components to produce amalgam for denture fillings and discharging of said amalgam from the housing for engagement thereof by the plugger means, and said plugger means being selectively reciprocal through the cartridge for implanting multiple charges of the amalgam in a tooth cavity, o

  • Patent number: 3951387
Abstract: A disposable cartridge or capsule for storing at least two independent ingredients preloaded therein in mutually sealed relationship, and selectively combining and mixing the ingredients to provide a substantially homogeneous compound. The cartridge comprises a sectional housing having mixer means rotatably mounted therein, said mixer means being carried by sealing means which cooperates with the housing for providing at least two sealed compartments therein in one position of the sealing means and opening communication between the compartments in a second position of the sealing means. Subsequent to a mixing operation, one of said housing sections may be separated from the other housing section and released from engagement with the sealing means and mixing means whereby the mixture may be stored in said removed housing section for use.
