  • Publication number: 20230259181
Abstract: An add-in device (100) for use in a host server (300) is capable of operating for an extended time after the host server (300) stops providing power to the add-in device (100). The add-in device (100) may include a circuit board assembly (110) and a cover (120) that define a duct through the add-in device (100). An inlet (170) of the duct receives cooling air flow that the host (300) normally drives through the duct. A blower (160) inside the duct may operate from a backup power source (140) to pull air flow through the duct to maintain forced convection cooling when the host (300) fails to provide power or cooling air flow to the add-in device (100). The backup power can also continue operation of the device (100) to execute a shutdown procedure after the host fails.

  • Publication number: 20230262936
Abstract: A device such as an add-in card 100 for a computer system includes a circuit board assembly (110) and a cover (120). The cover (120) has two sides and a top extending between the sides. The sides contact a major surface of the circuit board assembly (110) adjacent to and along opposite edges. The cover (120) may protect electronic components of the circuit board assembly (110) and control air flows, flatness, and rigidity of a device. The cover (120) may further be sized and shaped to limit movement of electronic components of the circuit board assembly (110).

  • Publication number: 20230251301
Abstract: A carrier (220) for insertion of a device under test (210) into a tester (110) includes engagement structures (226, 234) and an integrated activator (236). The engagement structures (226, 234) are shaped to engage and hold the device under test (210) in the carrier (220) for insertion in tester (110). The activator (236) is positioned to automatically contact and activate a configuration component on the device under test (210). The activator (236) may particularly include a shunt positioned to electrically contact and short together configuration pins (216). The shorting or other activation sets an operating mode of the device under test (210) during testing.

  • Patent number: 10271454
Abstract: Examples relate to sliding rail assemblies comprising a first and a second slide rail wherein each slide rail comprises a main body and a guide rail. The main body has an inner surface to attach to an inner surface of the guide rail and an outer surface having an upper, a lower and a middle protrusion along the length of the main body. The upper and the middle protrusions define a dovetail socket and the middle and the lower protrusion define a dovetail. The main bodies of the first and the second slide rails are identical to each other. Each dovetail protrusion of the first slide rail slidably engages a corresponding dovetail protrusion of the second slide rail such that a cavity is formed between the respective guide rails.

  • Publication number: 20190090375
Abstract: Examples herein relate to a keying device for inserting a module in a chassis. The device comprises a key plate having a protrusion adapted to interlock with a slot of the chassis and teeth to grip the module and an operating handle. The keying device permits insertion or ejection of the module in the chassis responsive to the protrusion interlocking the slot of the chassis when the operating handle is in an open position and the keying device rejects insertion or ejection of the module in the chassis responsive to the protrusion not interlocking the slot of the chassis when the operating handle is in a closed position.

  • Patent number: 6833995
Abstract: An enclosure is disclosed for housing multiple electronic devices. In one embodiment, the enclosure includes a chassis having a floor and opposing sidewalls. Discrete first and second midplanes, each having an opening formed therein, may be disposed in an interior portion of the chassis on opposite sides of a divider wall. The first and second midplanes may be configured to mate to at least one air displacement unit on a back surface of the associated midplane and to mate to at least one device sled on a front surface of the associated midplane. An opening is formed in each midplane adjacent the associated air displacement unit to permit air to pass through the opening.

  • Patent number: 6502702
Abstract: A rack cabinet and a method for making such a rack cabinet are disclosed. In one embodiment, the rack cabinet includes a base member having alignment pins extending therefrom and a bracket having alignment holes, which mate with the alignment pins. One or more rails may then be secured to the bracket such that the rails are in proper, such as perpendicular, alignment with the base member. The bracket may be, for example, an L-shaped or a U-shaped bracket and provides structural strength to the rack cabinet in addition to properly aligning the rails relative to the base member. A top member may also be secured to top ends of the rails via brackets in a similar manner.
