    Abstract: An energy storage system including battery packs having a first terminal electrically connected to a first node and a second terminal electrically connected to a second node and configured to receive power from an external device or configured to provide power to the external device through the first and second nodes and a battery management system controlling the battery packs. The battery management system includes a measuring unit for measuring a state of charge (SOC) of the batteries of each battery pack, and a controller configured to calculate a high value, a low value, an average value, and a difference value between the high and low values from the measured SOCs, and configured to control the transistor units of the battery packs, based on the calculated high, low, average, and difference values.

    Abstract: A battery system and method for connecting a battery to the battery system are disclosed. In one aspect, the battery system includes at least one first battery, a second battery, a first switch configured to connect the second battery in parallel to the first battery and a second switch and a resistor connected in series and configured to connect the second battery in parallel to the first battery. The first switch and the second switch are connected in parallel. The battery system further includes a battery management system (BMS) configured to turn on the second switch so as to connect the second battery to the first battery. The BMS is further configured to turn off the second switch and turn on the first switch when the difference in voltage between the second battery and the first battery reaches a predetermined value.

The isolator receives the transmitted information from an AFE which is not connected to the battery module having the least electric potential or to the battery module having the greatest electric potential.

The connections allow the cell balancing systems to be detached from the battery units and reused.

The voltage conversion circuit is configured to output a second signal at a second voltage level that is proportional to the first voltage level. An analog-digital converter is configured to receive the second signal and convert the received second signal into a digital signal. A controller is configured to transfer the voltage measurement control signal to the switching element, and receive the digital signal from the analog-digital converter.

    Abstract: A secondary battery includes a protection circuit module (PCM) electrically connected to a bare cell. The bare cell is wrapped with a first sheet, a water permeable second sheet placed on the first sheet, and a submergence label placed between the first sheet and the water permeable second sheet. The submergence label indicates if the bare cell has been exposed to moisture. The label sheet further has a stacking structure, wherein the second sheet is placed on top of the first sheet and the submergence label is interposed between the first sheet and the second sheet. Accordingly, it is possible to determine whether a user has disassembled, modified, or reused the battery and it is possible to easily verify whether or not the secondary battery has been submerged in a liquid due to a user's carelessness or mistake.
