  • Publication number: 20100083672
Abstract: System and methods for providing anti-condensation system are disclosed. A relative humidity (RH) sensor signal from a sensor on or near a control surface is received. An AC power input is received. A phase of the AC power input is modulated at least partly in response to the sensor signal in such a manner that a phase-modulated AC power output provided to a heater is a) substantially constant at a first power level (P1st) in a low RH region ranging from 0% RH to a first RH (RH1), b) varying as a function of the sensor signal from P1st to a second power level (P2nd) in an intermediate RH region ranging from RH1 to a second RH (RH2), and c) substantially constant at P2nd in a high RH region beginning at RH2.

  • Publication number: 20090310818
Abstract: The present invention relates to a face detection system for a vehicle. At least one first lighting unit is configured to radiate infrared light onto a left side of a driver's face. At least one second lighting unit is configured to radiate infrared light onto a right side of the driver's face. An image capturing unit separately captures the driver's face onto which the infrared light is radiated from the first and second lighting units. A control unit acquires left and right images of the face from the image capturing unit, and obtains a difference image between the acquired left and right images, thus determining whether the driver is inattentive in looking ahead. The system stably performs the face detection function with no or less effect by external optical environments as well as reduced computational load.

  • Publication number: 20090172182
Abstract: A system and a method for a multimedia streaming service in a mobile communication device are provided for reducing power consumption. The mobile communication device determines a buffering size of a buffer according to characteristic information of the streams. The device receives the streams from the server, stores the streams in the buffer and plays the buffered streams. The mobile communication device requests a stream pause and the server stops a stream transmission. The server then sends a keep-alive request message to the device. The communication device then sends a keep-alive response message to the server when a keep-alive critical period expires.

  • Publication number: 20080133091
Abstract: An apparatus for adjusting a position of a side mirror camera of a vehicle includes a light source at the rear of the vehicle, emitting light toward the front of the vehicle. An image processing unit matches an image obtained by the camera with a reference image. A control unit adjusts the position of the camera based on the matching of the images. A method of adjusting a position of a side mirror camera of a vehicle includes: providing a light source at the rear of the vehicle to emit light toward the front of the vehicle, obtaining an image with the camera, matching the image obtained by the camera with a reference image, and adjusting the position of the camera based on the result of the matching. The matching may include binarizing the image obtained by the camera.

  • Publication number: 20070187617
Abstract: There is provided a method and a device of monitoring oil oxidation in real time. The method of the present invention comprises the steps of: irradiating ultraviolet light into oil to be monitored; measuring fluorescence emission intensity of the oil in red, green and blue wavelength bands; determining one value measured in a relatively long wavelength band and the other value measured in a relatively short wavelength band among the fluorescence emission intensity measured in the red, green and blue wavelength bands; calculating a fluorescence emission ratio which is defined as a ratio of the value measured in the relatively long wavelength band to the value measured in the relatively short wavelength band; and monitoring a change in the fluorescence emission ratio. It is then determined whether the fluorescence emission ratio reaches a predetermined critical magnitude. When the fluorescence emission ratio reaches the critical magnitude, the necessity of replacing the oil with new one is indicated.

  • Publication number: 20050226781
Abstract: Disclosed is a micro-fluidic chip for high-throughput screening and high-throughput assay, in which its structure is improved, thereby enhancing the efficiency of high-throughput screening and high-throughput assay. The micro-fluidic chip includes a well for isolating a specimen. The well can be arranged in a one- or two-dimension. A specimen-isolating means is disposed above the well and is movable upwards and downwards. An opening and closing means for moving the specimen-isolating means upwards and downwards is disposed above the specimen-isolating means. An inlet for injection the specimen and an outlet for discharging an excess of the injected specimen are provided. A reagent-injecting passage for injecting a reagent and a reagent-discharging passage for discharging the reagent are also provided.

  • Patent number: 6031338
Abstract: A ballast is disclosed which can operate at an effective level of output with a number of different input voltage levels. A ballast is also disclosed that uses a ceramic as a heat sink for switching transistors. A ballast is further disclosed which uses a start signal for a power factor circuit to boost voltage after the load for the ballast has already had a current applied to it. Furthermore, a ballast is disclosed which has a transformer having a permeability which varies somewhat inversely with temperature over a given temperature range.
