    Abstract: The nozzle error correction method is provided for adjusting information of an output image to correct an error nozzle. A position of an error nozzle firing an ink amount different from a reference value is detected from a plurality of nozzles. A determination is made from an input image as to whether a current pixel for output is an error pixel of the detected error nozzle. A channel value of the error nozzle is set to a certain value if the current pixel is the error pixel. However, if the current pixel is not the error pixel, a determination is made as to whether an error pixel exists in a certain area around the current pixel. A value of the current pixel is then adjusted based on error information. Image-processing is performed in order for the current pixel to be outputted, if the error pixel exists in the certain area. Accordingly, degradation of a print speed and a shortened life span of the head are prevented.

For simple multiplications, each of the partial multiplication modules can pass data to and from an adjacent partial multiplication module to calculate the partial carry and the partial product, and pass bits exceeding its own multiplication coverage.

    Abstract: An apparatus and method are provided for processing image data using error diffusion. The apparatus and method decode image data compressed in a joint photographic experts group (JPEG) format, convert the image data into color coordinates without storing the image data in a memory, and perform a binarization by calculating error values in accordance with the image data in the unit of block to generate a final output data which is 1 bit long. Since the apparatus and method for processing image data using error diffusion do not require an operation of transmitting and storing the image data to a system memory through a DMA controller, the performance of a system is improved. Also, since the memory does not require a large storage space to store the decoded image data, its utility is improved.

    Abstract: A binary image generating method and apparatus using location information of minority pixels. A modified input pixel value u(m, n) is calculated by adding a value obtained by filtering an error value e(m, n) of a previous binary pixel to a currently input continuous tone pixel value i(m, n). An ideally optimum distance dopt(i(m, n)) between the currently input continuous tone pixel value i(m, n) and a minority pixel is calculated. A minimum distance dm between the input pixel and minority pixels is calculated using location information of the minority pixels at minimum distances from binary pixels adjacent to the input pixel. A threshold value t(m, n) is calculated using the ideally optimum distance dopt(i(m, n)) and the minimum distances dm for the currently input continuous tone pixel value i(m, n). The threshold value t(m, n) is compared with the modified input pixel value u(m, n) to determine a binary pixel value b(m, n) of the input pixel.
